Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto said that in order to facilitate investment in Indonesia, the government is offering various incentives and facilities for investors who are committed to supporting economic equality. The importance of investment that does not only focus on economic growth alone but also on the distribution of benefits to the wider community, especially in areas that have so far been less touched by development. This initiative is expected to open up new jobs and improve the quality of life of people in remote areas.
During his three-day visit to China, President Prabowo met with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji. During the meeting, China successfully brought in US$10.07 billion or around Rp157.64 trillion worth of investment to Indonesia. The cooperation was carried out between entrepreneurs from both countries. The entrepreneurs agreed to a number of cooperation agreements in line with the government’s priority programs, including in the fields of food security, energy security, downstreaming of 26 main domestic commodities, and in the field of advancing science and technology.
This enthusiasm shows that the investment climate in Indonesia is very attractive and profitable for investors. Many investors have expressed interest in getting involved in infrastructure projects such as toll roads, ports, and airports that will help connect remote areas with the national economic center. Investors also see great potential in the renewable energy sector in Indonesia, which is increasingly driven by the government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and building a green economy.
Not only that, President Prabowo also introduced a number of new policies that facilitate the investment licensing process in Indonesia. This policy aims to create a more conducive and efficient business climate, so that investment can move faster and have a direct impact on economic growth. This initiative has received a positive response, especially from countries that have long been Indonesia’s trading partners, such as Japan, China, and European countries.
During this visit, the Indonesian government also emphasized the importance of partnerships between foreign investors and local business actors. This collaboration is expected to create a transfer of knowledge and technology that will strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global market. This step is also in line with President Prabowo’s vision to create an independent and sustainable economy, where local resources can be optimally utilized for the welfare of the community.
The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that after overseas visits to several countries, investment agreements had been agreed upon, such as the signing of technical cooperation guidelines (TCG) with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China Han Jun. The signing of the TCG is part of the “Implementing Arrangement” which was previously signed by the Indonesian and Chinese governments in early September 2023.
The high interest of foreign investors in Indonesia also shows that this country is increasingly trusted as a stable and promising investment destination. Political stability and government efforts to continue to improve the ease of doing business are some of the main factors supporting investor optimism. In addition, Prabowo explained that the government is working hard to provide legal certainty to investors, including in investment protection and transparent dispute resolution.
