President Jokowi visited the location affected by floods and landslides in Sukajaya, Bogor, West Java, on Tuesday (7/1/2020). The community appreciates the presence of the President in the middle of the disaster location as a form of Government attention and the acceleration of the post-disaster rehabilitation program.

The review of flood-affected victims is now on President Jokowi’s work agenda. Because, a few days this former DKI governor is busy reviewing various locations affected by floods. Including providing some assistance to the victims. Previously, Jokowi was also reportedly carrying out helicopters, but failed to land due to weather constraints. However, at least 6,000 aid packages were delivered to victims through local government agencies.

Jokowi’s fast-moving action was not just once or twice. But only a few are able to be caught on camera. The man who is identical with the long-sleeved white shirt always tries to prioritize residents, especially those affected by the disaster, which is the flood this time. The news of the natural disasters that hit Jakarta and a number of cities in West Java was widely heard. In fact, this time the flood is said to be the worst. Even though efforts to develop infrastructure to support the anticipation of flooding have been carried out. But in reality the project stalled and seemed unnoticed. So this is what is suspected of making the flood worse, especially in Jakarta.

According to a number of locations reports Pesantren Latansa, Parakansantri, Lebak, Banten is one of the points that was badly damaged by flash floods that occurred some time ago. Jokowi is also suspected of visiting this place. Jokowi was also involved in a dialogue with victims affected by flash floods and landslides in Harkat Jaya Village, Bogor Regency.

At least six villages in Sukajaya Subdistrict were recorded as being isolated which included; Kiarapandak, Kiara Sari, Urug, Cileuksa, Pasir Madang and also Cisarua. However, the presidential entourage was unable to visit these villages because the terrain was still difficult to pass.

The President brought several officials in the observation activities to the location of the disaster. Namely, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Social Minister Juliari Batubara Minister of Health Terawan Agus, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono. Heavy rains that occurred on New Year’s Eve were believed to have caused flooding and landslides on January 1, 2020 in the area.

Previously, in a Plenary Cabinet Session, the President instructed the relevant staff to go directly to the field to handle floods that occurred in several areas. President Jokowi stressed the importance of providing health services and assistance for residents affected by flooding.

Jokowi stressed that all ministries related to flooding must jump down. This includes health, and social assistance. Even the SOE Ministry can also move SOEs. Even though he is already active, Jokowi thinks he still needs to remind this.

In addition, Jokowi specifically instructed the Minister of the Interior Tito Karnavian to remind all regional heads to continue to increase their vigilance and to be prepared for flood disasters during this extreme rainy season. Including preparation planning and evacuation preparation.

To the TNI and Polri to immediately jump in and help the field every time there is an incident, also Basarnas and the BNPB. In a separate place, the Coordinating Minister for Development, Human and Culture (PMK) Muhadjir Effendy stated, the government currently continues to optimize the service of basic needs for victims in the Greater Jakarta area and surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, Kemenko PMK and various related parties continue to carry out a number of coordination while ensuring that the assistance for the victims is carried out properly and they get the services they should. He explained, all victims will be handled well, especially in terms of providing basic needs services. Which includes; food problems as well as temporary shelters. The government will also provide assistance to the victims in the form of some kind of compensation.

In addition, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is also expected to be able to explain that victims do not have to be in refugee camps, but can also join their relatives who are not affected by floods. Specifically for education, the government continues to strive so that the learning process of students or children is not disrupted.

Learning activities must continue regardless of the conditions. Muhadjir said the PMK Coordinating Team had visited a number of areas to deal with victims in DKI Jakarta, Bogor, and Lebak Regency.

On the other hand, Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim added, his party had coordinated the distribution of aid distribution to a number of schools affected by the flood. He stressed, so that assistance arrived quickly at the location. Nadiem has also coordinated across ministries and governments, both central and regional, to rehabilitate schools damaged by flooding.

A great collaboration between President Jokowi and his staff is expected to be able to make things better. Jokowi’s main priority which states that the victims must be prioritized has been proven. This is reflected in a number of coordination from related institutions to cope with the flood disaster this year. Hopefully, Jokowi’s attitude will be able to become a role model for all levels of Indonesian society and society. That a good leader is the one who prioritizes his citizens.
