Beware of Student Organizations Riding Papuan Separatists and Foreign Parties

The University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) submitted Papua Political Prisoners ( Tapol ) data to Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Mahfud MD on Monday (02/17/2020). Public also be skeptical given that data only describe the victims of the Papuan separatist group and does not include the security apparatus that fall especially Papuan civilians. Te action RSE but also menun verifiers indicate the organization student has ridden foreigners and separati s Pap ua.

The presence of Veronika Koman and their accomplices brought a new issue that was considered to be undermining the country. Various accusations were again filed with these human rights lawyers. Vero, who was previously vocal about Papua, threatened the government by submitting some evidence if military operations in Papua were not immediately withdrawn. Nevertheless, the government and security forces responded calmly. This is because the government and security forces have acted according to procedures when serving in conflict areas, Papua.

Even though he is still a suspect and is being hunted by the National Police, Vero seems to have the courage to show his nose in public. For information, Vero was named as a suspect on charges related to the spread of hoax and provocative content related to the riots in Papua and West Papua.

Even recently, Vero and a group of activists claimed to have submitted data containing 57 political prisoners and around 243 civilian casualties killed in Nduga, Papua, since December 2018 to President Jo ko Widodo.

According to him, the document was submitted when Jokowi was visiting Canberra, Australia. Vero said, Jokowi had freed five Papuan political prisoners during the first period of his administration, in 2015.

However, in the second period , there were 57 political prisoners awaiting trial. In his view, this step would worsen the conditions in Papua. For information, if the 57 activists were arrested for acts of treason committed, while holding a demonstration some time ago.

After submitting the data to Jokowi’s party, Vero then questioned the president’s move towards a request for the withdrawal of the troops. Given the number of victims, but it never happened.

Meanwhile , responding to the request, the National Police insisted it would not withdraw its personnel who were currently serving in Papua. According to the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Police Public Relations Division Brigadier General Argo Yuwono, it would not be possible if the police would withdraw personnel from the conflict area, because the police were tasked with providing services and security to the public.

Meanwhile, the University of Indonesia (UI) Student Executive Board (BEM) is reported to have submitted Amnesty International Australia data along with human rights activist and lawyer Veronica Koman to Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD.

The data is claimed to contain the names of Papuans who became political resistance and Papuan civilians killed due to armed conflict with the TNI – Polri. It was B EM UI’s representative who handed it over when Mahfud was the speaker at UI Purnomo Prawiro Hall this morning.

Veronica Koman appreciated the steps taken by BEM UI for submitting the data. According to him, this is a good step in addressing the government which is considered neglected related to human rights issues. Veronica said, now there is no reason for the government to speak up if it has not yet received the data. It was stated, Mahfud had also promised to immediately act on it.

But other facts speak, the data submitted by V eronika Koman and represented by BEM UI is considered to be one-sided. Because the data only contained data from the KKB only and none came from Papuan civilians or security forces. Naturally, yesterday yesterday Mahfud MD said that the data was rubbish.

Information y ang unbalanced evidence that the data submitted by them are not objective and is not valid.

Mahasis wa come into one’s vision right agent of c han ge which has tangg u ng social responsibility . But on the other hand, the student would have to memil iki critical reasoning in meny IKAPI a peristi wa. Penyera han Data Prisoners unbalanced Papua it will slap w ajah students joints ri. Sela i n indicates the attitude of the poor assessment, ula h handful of students were becoming prese de n bad that geralan ridden students separatist groups and interests salty g

Support veiled B EM UI and Vero against CLA patu t u ntuk vigilance. In fact Ver onika Koman and his activists only highlighted the problem of the victims, and wanted to corner the government and its state apparatus. In fact, if synchronized with those who work in Papua all of the data can be countered.

Not only that, the data seems to have been deliberately rolled out in public to bring down the government. Vero was considered good at cultivating public sympathy, in order to get support related to the conflict in Papua. Keli Haian Vero proven to affect the younger siblings of students.

Worth d isayangk Vero d an handful mahasis wa standing beside separatist groups and not defend the country. Vero may be vocal about human rights, maybe Vero cares for the people of Papua, but Vero seems to forget that the security forces have the right to get attention too, given the human rights issue concerning all aspects of people. If the attack experienced by the TNI-Polri apparatus by the KKB or Papuan separatist groups is considered normal, then what side of Veronika is talking about human rights?
