Beware the Spread of Radicalism in the Community

Radicalism has become apparent in Indonesia, the ideology enters with doctrine that likes to think that those who disagree are infidels. The public is also advised to continue to be aware of the spread of the anti-Pancasila ideology because it threatens the ideology of the nation and state.

Call it Yudi Zulfairi, he was once sentenced to 9 years in prison by the West Jakarta District Court. In the trial, Yudi has been proven to provide assistance by being a guide for military terrorism participants in Aceh.

He told me, initially exposed to radical ideology was when he attended a special study in Aceh. In the study, Yudi often gets radical doctrine that says that the government is a pagan product.

At that time, Yudi was still serving as a Civil Servant (PNS) in Baitul Mal Banda Aceh City after graduating from STPDN. He also often read books that smelled radical, so, he was increasingly convinced that the government was infidel.

The assessment then made him decide to quit his job as a civil servant, and chose to join the training of terrorist militaries in Aceh.

Now Yudi is free from radical understanding, however he needs a long time to get rid of the radical understanding in his brain.

It can be likened to, eliminating the doctrine of radicalism is no different from people who are addicted to drugs. He said the way to eliminate addictions to radicalism should be to reduce the dose little by little, not to stop using it immediately.

The story above shows that radicalism is not something trivial, all doctrines about radicalism are now more easily accessed through social media that promises speed of access.

Specifically, what characterizes this radical group is a formalistic understanding, ritual obedience but lacking in love.

They are very obedient to the formal text of the Koran and the Hadith. They can barely catch between the lines. They take only what is written.

We are now aware that the Islamic culture of Conservative Arabic style has approached Indonesia massively. Group sympathizers such as Wahhabism are also increasingly wild in campaigning for monotheistic theology, which holds that immoral people are considered infidels.

Previously, Minister of Religion (Menag) Fachrul Razi mentioned that radicalism did not only exist in Islam alone. Radicalism also has the potential to exist in all religions.

He also stressed that he would be aware of radicalism in all sectors. Even President Jokowi has also ordered all ministries to participate in preventing the spread of radicalism.

Preventing and being aware of the threat of radicalism is not only a role for security forces but requires the role and participation of all parties. Of course, with the synergy between the state and society, the growth of radicalism will be easier to prevent.

We must agree that ideology plays a very important role for the power of the state. The founders of the nation and the state through deliberation to reach consensus reached the sublime agreement on Pancasila as the basis of the state, this very large and plural nation has the right and needs a strong integrative umbrella with norms that can sustain a great civilization.

The Pancasila ideology rejects all notions of radicalism and terrorism. Both ideologies are proven to be dangerous for Indonesia and many other countries. This is because radicalism is an understanding that validates relief. Scientifically usually associated with proposals that are fundamental solutions in improving society.

From the Yudi story we can conclude that the understanding of radicalism is proven to ignore the most important messages of religions that teach nobleness and harmony. In Islam, this principle is known as rahmatan lil ‘alamin.

In essence, humans always crave security, safety and peace. Therefore Islam is revealed as a mercy of all nature. Not as a group that likes to criticize government policies but also invites

Islam is not a religion that always invites people to hate fellow human beings, despite having different beliefs

Supiadin Aries Saputra explained that the radicalism movement had existed for a long time in Indonesia, he gave an example of how there were rebellions in the TII and NII in the early days of independence.

This is certainly proof that radicalism and terrorism have become a real threat to the peace and wholeness of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, therefore there is no other way but to eradicate radical understanding to its roots.
