Bomb Blast in Afghanistan

A bomb blast happened in front of the Kabul Bank in Jalalabad, Afghanistan on Saturday, 18 April 2014. The blast known as a suicide bomb that came from a motocycle. The incident happened when government employees and military personnel were taking their salaries. It killed 35 people and wounded more than 100 others.

An eyewitness, Njibullah, says “I just came in from Kabul, got out of the car when an explosion took place and that was followed by another blast. When I got here I saw many dead and wounded people and I offered help, all I could do for my countrymen.”

The Islamic State (IS) spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, said that IS is the one who responsible on the bomb blast. They said the bomber name was Abu Mohammad and he was the part of IS’ offshoot called ISIS Wilayat Khorasan. At the other side, Taliban from its spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that his group didn’t involve in that blast. “It was an evil act. We strongly condemn it,” he said.

The bomb was claimed as the lasrgest attack in Jalalabad for many months and became the IS’ first attack in Afghanistan. The U.N. Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said that the continuing use of suicide attacks in densely populated areas may amount to a war crime. There are even some children became victims in that attack. Afghanistan’s President, Ashraf Ghani, called it a “cowardly and heinous terrorist act”.
