Discourse on Postponement of PON XX, Gusti Randa Supports Papua to remain the host

XX 2020 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua is threatened to be postponed during its implementation amid the Corona Virus Disesae pandemic outbreak (Covid-19) in the country and parts of the world.

Papua Governor, Lukas Enembe who is the Chairperson of the PB PON XX Committee has sent a letter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) asking for consideration of the scheduled implementation of the PON to be postponed.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Center for Wrestling Unity (PGSI), Gusti Randa, said that if the Covid-19 pandemic until October 2020 could not be overcome then the delay in implementing the XX PON could be agreed.

According to him the delay or PON XX’s schedule was flexible but if he moved it was not agreed.

“The delay was flexible, if the place was not possible, after we were at sports, even though this is not our business. But the consideration is with the budget that has been spent quite large, “Gusti said in his virtual statement at the Live Talk Show in Jakarta, Monday (4/20/2020).

Then added Gusti, another consideration must remain in Papua is the construction of several stadium venues that are very magnificent which is the pride of Papua.

“So it’s impossible to change the place. If you change the place, is the place you change to ready, not necessarily ready. Maybe the land is ready but is it ready or not, “he said.

Still said Gusti Randa, the very extension at the moment is the postponement of the time to remain in Papua. However, do not be tight in 2021 because many national agendas in the country, especially in Papua, there is a National Paralimic (Parnas).

“Then in 2021 there are simultaneous local elections which the concentration of the Regional Government will go to the election. Our hope is that in Sports soon the Government together with PB PON will make a decision if it is postponed when the time and place must remain in Papua, “he stressed.
