E-Id Card and Obstacle of Determinating The Voter List

CIDISS. Election of Regional Head 2018, held simultaneously in 171 regions in Indonesia. For that, various preparations have been done. Both by the local Government and the candidates’ podium. Although the preparation has been done carefully, there are still a few problems faced, many people still do not have electronic identity cards (E-ID), which is the main requirement for voters to exercise their voting rights.

Ahead of the Election of Regional Head 2018, always inseparable from the problem of e-ID card data record. In fact, said Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, it happens every year. This happens because every year there are 1.5 million people who fall into the category of adolescents. This is what is vulnerable to use by certain groups in order to manipulate the voter list. In fact, this has not taken into account the residents who moved the address. As a result, the preparation of the permanent voters list and the list of potential voters (DP4) becomes an obstacle.

If this is allowed, then the determination of the voter list will also be constrained and will not be optimal. Furthermore, this can be utilized by certain groups in order to become material in casting a lawsuit, especially the losers in the elections. Furthermore, this could undermine the government’s credibility as the organizer of the 2014 Serial Election, which is also a reference for a number of parties in organizing the 2019 General Election.

To overcome this, people are expected to be active in updating data himself, especially those located in remote areas. This is due to the limited number of E-ID card recording officers and geographical conditions that are sometimes not possible for officers to pass through using motor vehicles. If the community is pro-active, the E-KTP recording will not be optimal in 2018.
