Jakarta, CIDISS – Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and China began to fail following the arrest of eight men fishing vessel KM Kway Fey apparatus 10078 by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) of Indonesia in the Natuna Sea on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Fishing boats and defense actions by the Chinese coastguard vessel in fact been violated Law (UU) No. 43/2008 on the Territory of Article 7. Article was declared Indonesia has sovereign rights and other rights in jurisdictions whose implementation in accordance with the legislation and international law. As it is known that the Natuna islands are still in parts of Indonesia, although the Chinese often consider that it becomes sea space. The Chinese Government has also violated the provisions of the International United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) related to the threat of use of force against the sovereignty, territorial integrity or political independence of the coastal State.
Efforts to arrest illegal fishing vessels in the waters of Natuna, Riau Islands (Riau), did not take place this time only. Previously, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) has also been arrested a number of foreign fishing vessels that enter the territory of the Natuna Sea. Nonetheless, the cases seen as a conflict of fisheries that do not necessarily involve military frontal.Dalam this case, indeed Illegal fishing has caused tremendous loss for the country. Repression, monitoring and termination of the perpetrators of the illegal fishing requires serious the government and all parties concerned. [RF]
