Government Needs a Legal Basis to Embed Pancasila Values

The government is drafting the BPIP Bill (Pancasila ideology Development Board) as a legal umbrella to instill the value of Pancasila. This bill contains the function, authority and structure of BPIP. But it does not change Pancasila into a trisila like the HIP Bill. The BPIP Bill is very important for applying Pancasila in daily life.

There is a new bill whose draft was given to the Republic of Indonesia House of Representatives through the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security, Mahfud MD, namely the BPIP Bill. This draft law is guaranteed not to change the contents of Pancasila like the controversial HIP bill. But it emphasizes the structure of the Pancasila Ideology Development Board. Also included is TAP MPRS XXV / 1966 concerning the prohibition of communism.

Indonesian Public Institute Executive Director, Karyono Wibowo said that the BPIP Bill was important to strengthen the position of BPIP. Because fostering the ideology of Pancasila is very important. So the BPIP Bill is a strong legal umbrella for BPIP. So when the president changes, the Pancasila strengthening program will not be deleted, because there is already a law.

Karyono continued, the performance of the Pancasila Ideology Development Board so far has been quite good, in carrying out the ideology of Pancasila development. Such as promoting the development of the value of Pancasila in the public and government and private institutions. So the role of BPIP is actually to replace the P4 program and BP7 institutions that have been dissolved.

The draft BPIP Bill consists of 16 pages, containing 7 chapters and 17 articles. In the draft BPIP bill article 1 paragraph 1, it was emphasized that Pancasila was used officially only five precepts that were approved by the Indonesian independence preparation committee. So the people do not need to worry, because the BPIP Bill is not like the HIP Bill (which was previously rejected) which states that the Pancasila was replaced by the trivia.

Why should the value of Pancasila continue to be socialized? Because according to the former deputy chairman of the MPR RI Mahyudin, so that Pancasila is not easily forgotten and becomes the nation’s guideline for daily behavior. so the community not only understands the ideology of Pancasila, but is also used as a basis in daily life. Community behavior reflects Pancasila.

So when the Pancasila Ideology Guidance Body Bill will be promulgated, this is very good. Because it aims to make all Indonesian citizens understand Pancasila and practice it every day. Pancasila is not just rote, it is practiced. Because Pancasila is a complete package that can make a person become a much better person.

The public is expected not to misunderstand the existence of the BPIP Bill that reminds BP7 and P4 upgrading that was intensively carried out in the new order. The proposed bill does not mean that all rules will be the same as at that time. Because the president is different, the rules are different, and don’t be afraid that we will regress.

In fact, the Draft Bill on the Ideology of Pancasila Development will be formalized so that the life of the nation and state will be better. Moreover, we are still in the co-19 pandemic. Every person who practices Pancasila will help one another, both to neighbors affected by corona or other people in need. Because he remembered the precepts of fair and civilized humanity.

The BPIP Bill will also make the Pancasila socialization intensified again. This is very important to foster a sense of nationalism in every Indonesian citizen. So they don’t just remember Pancasila and the 1945 constitution in August. But every day remember and also practice it, because it is very useful.

The plan for the inauguration of the Pancasila Ideology Development Board Bill is very good because it regulates the position, function, and duties of BPIP. Pancasila will be socialized more often so that it does not only become memorized while still in school. But everyone will carry out daily life based on the five precepts of Pancasila.
