The government launched a priority program formulated through the idea of Nawacita. The concept of Nawacita scheduled nine programs to build Indonesia for the better. As a great idea to build the nation, Nawacita is conducted by the government during the Jokowi-JK period from 2014 to 2019 with one of its main priority agenda is to build Indonesia from the periphery. Building Indonesia from the periphery is actually supported from various aspects; economy, culture, infrastructure, education, human resources, and so on, including the broadcasting sector / media in which in the era of globalization and information disclosure and press freedom today, the broadcasting sector has a major contribution in building a civilization of a nation.
The evidence of developing economic and Infrastructure aspect, which became one of the Government’s priority programs, can be looked in Entikong. The Building of border postals have been completed. Now the conditions of Indonesia and Malaysia border appear more magnificent. As reported by Antara, Jokowi asserted that the construction of an important border post as a form of state self-esteem. Jokowi did not want the border post in Indonesia worse than neighboring countries. He cautioned that the construction of border posts is not merely to show the grandeur of the building but also to show Indonesia’s ability and pride.
The periphery is closely related to the representation of a country. It also related to national politics, our self-esteem as a nation, and it concerned with safeguarding the sovereignty of this country and caring for nationalism in order to maintain the unity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). One of the border areas that needs attention is Entikong, West Kalimantan. This area is directly adjacent to Malaysia where access to information, services, and infrastructure lags far enought with neighboring countries.
Broadcasting aspect becomes one of the fundamental areas if you want to build Indonesia from the periphery. Broadcasting has tremendous influence and impact as it can reach 67% of Indonesia’s population. That is, about 122 million people can access broadcast media. Not to mention the impact of social, economic, cultural, political, until the impact of ideas, mental, and even human behavior generated broadcast media messages. Media in the context of human resource development takes an important role in educational efforts to foster the values of nationalism in border communities. So the sense of loving homeland can be realized by maintaining the territory of Indonesian sovereignty.
Besides the role of mass media and broadcasting, the role of youth is also vital in maintaining the integrity / sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in border areas. We also know that the future of the Indonesian nation is greatly determined by the younger generation of Indonesian. Youth is the future of this Nation. Therefore, every young Indonesian who is still a student, college student, or who has completed his education are important factors that are highly relied upon by the Indonesian nation in realizing the ideals of the nation and also maintaining the sovereignty of the Nation and the integrity of the NKRI. The statement is not merely rhetoric, the fact of history reveals since antiquity before Indonesia declared itself free, the young generation at that time were so important. The youths could liberated Indonesia from the hands of Dutch and Japanese. Moreover, after the independence day, the youth generation of Indonesian still played an active role in advancing this beloved Indonesia. The sense of care and nationalism of Indonesian youth predecessors were very high to advance this Indonesia.
The two elements of the society, namely Media and Youth Organization at Border with the important role to maintain the fringes of NKRI, need to be empowered by reinforcing the sense of loving homeland / nationalism to maintain and develope the border region of RI.
