Presidential candidate number 01 Joko Widodo (Jokowi) claimed to have received congratulations from the leaders of friendly countries regarding the victory of the quick count version in the 2019 Presidential Election. According to Jokowi, there were 25 leaders of friendly countries who congratulated.
Some leaders of the friendly countries include Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Jokowi said the greeting was delivered via telephone.
“He congratulated the Indonesian people and Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin for the success of the April 17 2019 election yesterday,” Jokowi said at Plataran Resto, Menteng, Jakarta, Thursday (4/18).
In addition, Jokowi said 25 leaders of friendly countries also congratulated on the ongoing democratic party in Indonesia. According to Jokowi, many other countries were amazed by the implementation of the 2019 Election. The reason is that the 2019 Election is one of the largest elections in the world. There are 813,350 polling stations (TPS) spread over more than 17 thousand Indonesian islands.
The level of voter participation in the 2019 Election was quite high, reaching almost 81 percent. The level of voter participation in political contestation this year is higher than the 2014 election which was only 75.11 percent.
This figure is also above the target of voter participation set by the government in the 2015-2019 National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN). Based on the RPJMN, the target of voter participation in the 2019 Election is 77.5 percent. “This is a big election that maybe other countries see it really really amazed,” Jokowi said.
