The second round of presidential debate has been held and has been witnessed by millions of pairs of eyes waiting for the ideas of the future leaders of the Nation.
Unlike the first debate, the second round of debate was only attended by presidential candidates, namely President Joko Widodo and Prabowo Subianto. Which of course is quite interesting to see how the two presidential candidates are on one stage while clashing ideas and arguments, without any assistance from the respective vice president.
In the first debate, Jokowi appeared more aggressive while Prabowo was . Then what is the second attitude towards the second round presidential debate, where Prabowo will attack Jokowi with issues on infrastructure and
KPU deliberately chose the topic to be debated by presidential candidates. “This is related to the main policies,” said KPU commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan
Wahyu also said that he had evaluated the granting of the grid as in the first debate. giving a grid for the two pairs of candidates was criticized by a number of parties.
Before the debate began, Jokowi’s National Campaign Team was optimistic that the former DKI Governor was able to answer the problems during the debate. Moreover, the theme of the second round of debate that had been raised by Jokowi through his program and policy as president.
During the session, there was an argument, a question that was raised by Prabowo was too easily denied by Jokowi. When Prabowo attacked with Kertajati Airport was quiet, for Jokowi continued to respond with technical answers.
“Kertajati only need to complete the connecting toll road. Once completed, the airport.
After the second round of debates held, this also received responses from various parties, one of which was from LSI’s Founder, Denny JA.
Denny JA considered that the incumbent presidential candidate Jokowi was able to surpass Prabowo in the second round presidential debate. He mentioned at least 6 things that made Jokowi able to win the debate last night.
“There are six things that make Jokowi excel in the second round debate, First, Jokowi knows the field better. When Prabowo stated that he would make state-owned enterprises to empower fishermen, Jokowi lightly answered that maybe Prabowo did not know we already had the BUMN named Perindo and Perinus, “Denny said.
Second, According to Denny, Jokowi was more systematic about the solution compared to the candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto. According to Denny, the former Danjen tends to be normative and general about Prabowo’s plans to encourage the digital industry.
In the second debate, Jokowi presented data from 7 ASEAN digital business startups. Even Jokowi has prepared Palapa 4G Ring and deregulation.
Third, Petahana Presidential Candidate Joko Widodo is considered more realistic regarding the program, for example, according to Denny, when the incumbent presidential candidate pointed out that the import of corn in 2018 was only 180 thousand tons from 3.5 million tons in 2014.
Fourth, Jokowi was more experienced, he had told his experience at 12 o’clock at night he had visited alone with the driver to the fishing settlement, to ascertain their condition. He used to do that since he led the city, province and now the country.
Denny continued, that Prabowo actually had time to stop the discussion in the debate. Though the moderator continued to give time to the two candidates to argue about energy issues.
Furthermore, Jokowi had time to shoot the . At that time Prabowo mentioned how few wealthy people in Indonesia controlled the majority of resources. Jokowi answered, but Pak Prabowo owned 220 thousand hectares of land in Kalimantan and 120 thousand hectares in Aceh.
So Jokowi managed to win the debate because he mastered the material, while Prabowo controlled the land.
Joko Widodo’s appearance in the second debate was better than Prabowo – Subianto. The incumbent’s status made it easier for Jokowi to convey concrete ideas along with data and numbers, while Prabowo again showed something or abstract and played rhetoric.
As a challenger faction, Prabowo did not explain the evidence to weaken public confidence in the incumbent’s performance. Prabowo does not give just one example of “environmental violations” and what the Jokowi government has done to overcome them. Prabowo actually fell into the general view: “Environmental violations are very much done and still a homework for all of us”, said Prabowo.
Jokowi’s comments were criticized by the challengers’ camp, because the incumbent had a strategy of defeating the criticism by undermining the integrity of the critic.
The debate began to heat up when the two candidates discussed the agrarian problem. Where Prabowo criticized for – the land certificate carried out by Jokowi to silence the criticism, Jokowi explained data on the ownership of hundreds of thousands of hectares of land belonging to Prabowo.
Prabowo also said his words with appreciation when responding to Jokowi’s statement about efforts to save natural resources by the government and the KPK.
Appreciation was also conveyed by Prabowo when responding to Jokowi who spoke about his achievements in the energy sector, namely the use of palm oil for biofuel production. According to Prabowo, he welcomed the efforts of the Jokowi government in achieving economic independence, but he stated that he still had his own strategy for palm oil management.
“Every effort towards independence in the energy sector is welcome. And if we do so, we acknowledge that Pak Jokowi and his government have done positive things in that field, “said Prabowo.
