Cidiss. Yohanes Ande Kalla Marcal (Joni Kala), a child who climbs a flagpole from Atambua, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) met and received an award from the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbub) Muhadjir Effendy in Jakarta, Monday (08/20/2018).
Muhadjir Efendi gave Scholarship to Joni until graduating from high school for his spontaneous action to climb the rope of the flagpole caught during the 73rd Republic of Indonesia’s independence ceremony in Atambua NTT, thanks to his heroic action the red and white flag was successfully raised, “this reminds us of the battle in Surabaya , when the young man tore the blue part of the Dutch flag above Hotel Yamato, so that the remaining red and white colors. If it is now, the spirit is how to be able to fly back to Red and White so that Indonesia will progress “, said the Minister of Education and Culture when meeting Joni and the Family in Building A of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir said Joni’s heroic action was an example of efforts to fill independence in the present era, Joni climbed a flagpole that was approximately 20 meters tall, therefore the Ministry of Education and Culture through Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Efendi gave an award to be an example for other Indonesian children to be more active in filling Indonesia’s independence.
In addition to scholarships until graduating from high school, Joni got a Laptop, shoes, clothes and school supplies from the Minister of Education and Culture. The youngest child of 9 siblings, Lorensa Gama and Viktorlino Fahik Marcal, looked so happy and turned to his parents when he received a laptop from Mendikbub.
For his desperate action, Joni also received a scholarship up to the bachelor degree level (S1) from PT PLN (Persero) and also a scholarship of Rp. 50 million from famous lawyer Hotman Paris Hutape. After meeting with Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir, parents and Joni will be invited to the Presidential Palace to meet with President Joko Widodo.
