KAMI Does not Represent the Aspirations of the Community

KAMI, which are a group of national leaders, argued that they wanted to save Indonesia because the country’s condition was in crisis. Their statements were even laughed at by the public, because they didn’t match the facts. The proof, the people can still survive amid the pandemic and they can survive because of assistance from the government.

KAMI made an official declaration on 18 August. In that event, they gave 8 demands to the government and considered that all the existing programs were wrong. The state is likened to a ship that almost sank, so it must be saved.
You do this by strengthening the opposition and criticizing the government.
Unfortunately the people are not easily fooled by their statements. Because even though we are still in the atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have not been trapped in a recession. Slowly the country’s financial condition began to improve. The community is also given assistance, ranging from social assistance, the Family of Hope Program, to free corona medical expenses (borne by BPJS).

The amount of this assistance shows the government’s concern. If KAMI say that the government ignores public health, they are wrong. In fact, currently the government is also supporting research on the combination of covid-19 drugs. Also supports the discovery of a corona vaccine so that it can be launched immediately, so that all Indonesian citizens can be free from the covid-19 virus.

One of KAMI demands is a replacement for the presidential election system, from direct elections to elections by MPR members. People find it very funny because it actually returns the political situation to the way it was in the new order. In fact, the most appropriate way to uphold democracy is through direct presidential elections by the people.

Therefore, the statements that came out during the KAMI declaration were considered not to represent the hearts of the people. Because they don’t see the truth on the ground. How do they know that the government doesn’t pay attention to the people? Has there been an official survey from a valid institution? So don’t just demonize without any clear evidence.

KAMI members can only criticize the government and be cynical, without any definite solution. They forget that society needs real action, not mere boasting and criticism. So the people are less and less sympathetic to them, because they only seek attention and make nonsense. If you want to save Indonesia, give help to the people.

The spiciness of the talk from the figures who are members of the KAMI is also very unfortunate. As senior figures, they should set an example for good speech. On the grounds of upholding democracy, they criticize everything the government does. Even though input can be given in a polite and calm manner.

The Declaration of the Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia which was held in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic was also regretted by the public. Because they are considered less empathetic and instead hold events that invite crowds. This violates health protocol. In fact, there are OUR members who deliberately take off their masks and are dangerous because they can transmit the corona.

This is very embarrassing because as national figures, they are actually setting a bad example. The public also felt angry that their name was being used as the government’s service. Though they feel fine. However WE keep on saying the opposite.

Khanif, the regional head of the Indonesian Muslim Student Action Unit, stated that the declaration was less prudent. The leaders should help the government and the people to fight to deal with corona. People are tired of false promises and the winds of heaven, so no more declarations filled with empty words and mere criticism.

KAMI existence makes the people even more confused because they can only speak without any evidence to save Indonesia. KAMI do not speak on behalf of the people because what is said is not based on facts. People do not sympathize with KAMI because they think they are just a crowd of people who are hungry for attention.
