The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) together with the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti), and the Ministry of Home Affairs (Ministry of Home Affairs) signed the implementation of anti-corruption education. Anti-corruption character education will be given from basic to high education.
Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Agus Rahardjo, said that actually the KPK had long prepared both teaching materials and socialization to educators regarding anti-corruption character education. However, so far the implementation has not been carried out firmly in all educational institutions.
In addition to education, Agus also wants to prioritize education governance that prevents corruption. He wants transparent and participatory governance to occur in educated activities.
Meanwhile, the three Ministries present welcomed the commitment to implement anti-corruption education. Minister of Education and Culture Mudhadjir Effendy said that his party had also tried to safeguard the nation’s children from being corrupt through computer-based national exams and questions that differed from one student to another.
Muhadjir said, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Culture, we sincerely conveyed high appreciation for the initiative of the KPK which has formed a strategic and concrete step to overcome corruption.
The same thing was expressed by Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo. He also reminded all parties present to always guard themselves from the corrupt traits that at any time could easily hinder their work.
He said, it’s time we support the KPK to take more progressive, revolutionary steps in preventing corruption.
In addition to the birth of policies that support the implementation of anti-corruption education, this activity also encourages the creation of good and clean governance at every level of education. From good education governance, a learning environment that can become a laboratory of integrity for students can be created.
