In preparation for the 2024 election, hopes for leaders who are able to continue programs in a sustainable manner are growing. This is considered the key to realizing Indonesia Emas 2045.
The importance of continuing the program was discussed in a webinar event held by the Moya Institute with the theme “Proclamation: Opportunities and Challenges for Leaders in Facing Indonesia Gold 2045” on Friday, August 25
One of the speakers at the event, Professor Imron Cotan, an expert on strategic and global issues. He discussed the importance of unity in the midst of complex challenges involving global and national scales. Therefore, he stated that leaders born from the 2024 election must have the ability to unite all components in Indonesia to achieve a golden Indonesia in 2045.
Professor Imron Cotan explained, “The leader must be able to build a national consensus and ensure that every Indonesian citizen participates in efforts to achieve Indonesia Gold 2045.”
The former Indonesian Ambassador to China also revealed that the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) is an opportunity for the Indonesian people to choose a leader who has a strong commitment to national unity and integrity.
Furthermore, he stated that the leader must have the ability to bridge communication between various groups of people, ensure that every voice is heard, and that every decision is taken by considering the common interest.
“This is an important moment to determine the direction that will be taken by Indonesia in the next two decades. Voters need to consider candidates who not only have clear international views, but also have a strong commitment to advancing domestic interests,” he added.
The Chancellor of Jenderal Achmad Yani University, Hikmahanto Juwana, hopes that the next national leader must have the ability to raise enthusiasm and view Indonesia as a superpower. For him, Indonesia Emas 2045 is a big goal that must be realized in Indonesia’s one hundred year journey.
Hikmahanto explained, “To achieve this goal, every presidential candidate determined by the General Elections Commission (KPU) must be committed to rejecting foreign interference trying to control our country.”
A reform politician, Fahri Hamzah, emphasized that future leaders should continue the development program launched by President Jokowi, in order to maintain the continuity of development. This includes the Special Economic Zone Infrastructure (IKN) development program.
Fahri also believes that Indonesia is on its way to realizing the ideals set forth by the nation’s founding fathers in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution. One of the four goals is to place Indonesia in an international context.
“Indonesia is designed to have a global role,” said Fahri.
Real evidence came quickly after the Proclamation of Independence, in which Indonesia immediately played a role on a global scale. The Asian-African Conference held in Indonesia succeeded in inspiring nations around the world.
“Don’t forget that one of the national goals is global, namely upholding a world order based on freedom, eternal peace and social justice,” he added.
General Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Abdul Mu’ti, argues that there are four aspects of sovereignty that need to be strengthened so that Indonesia can achieve “Golden Indonesia 2045”.
First, political sovereignty which refers to the ability to determine one’s own future in accordance with the principles of the 1945 Constitution. Second, territorial sovereignty to utilize all natural resources in Indonesia. Third, cultural sovereignty which proves that the Indonesian nation has unique characteristics and characteristics. Finally, sovereignty in the international arena to encourage world peace.
“In order for these four pillars of sovereignty to become the basis for Indonesia Golden 2045, the foundation lies in human resources,” said Mu’ti.
Mu’ti added, to strengthen human resources, it is necessary to increase the number of educated people, build a strong economy, and have visionary leaders who are able to improve Indonesia’s position on the international stage.
“Therefore, future government programs must be continuous, not experiencing drastic changes, and must start from an existing point,” he continued.
Executive Director of the Moya Institute, Hery Sucipto, stated that Indonesia needs to produce national leaders who have quality and excellence in every period of government.
According to Hery, the main characteristic that must be possessed by leaders in the future is the ability to create, maintain, and strengthen national unity and integrity.
