On the occasion of the Political Speech “Indonesian Vision” President of the Republic of Indonesia Ir Joko Widodo always reminded the public to play a role in building the Indonesian nation to be more advanced.
At present Indonesia is facing the 21st century marked by various global trends. There are at least 3 important trends facing the Indonesian people today.
First, the ongoing digital revolution and its growing influence in changing the joints of life, culture, civilization, and society including education.
Second, the more explicit phenomenon of the Creative Century which places information, knowledge, creativity, innovation and networking as strategic resources for individuals, communities, corporations and countries.
Third, the increasingly intensive integration of parts of the world due to internationalization, globalization, multilateral relations, communication technology and transportation technology.
These three things have an impact on the emergence of a new order, new measures and needs of new needs that are different before, which must be responded to and fulfilled by the world of national education as well as possible.
The media can be said as something that can be used to channel information or messages. In the context of education, the learning process in the 21st century is absolutely necessary for inspiring media in order to send messages of good character to the younger generation in an effective and enjoyable way.
Media such as films are also felt to be quite effective in conveying the messages of the character more broadly. Like the film Laskar Pelangi which succeeded in drawing the attention of the public. The film tells the story of the struggle of 10 children in getting education in remote areas of East Belitong with educational facilities and minimal economic conditions.
The film is able to provide inspiration especially to the younger generation that the enthusiasm in obtaining education and efforts in realizing their ideals must be pursued and realized to obtain the promise of a better life.
Passion of character messages also continue to color with the existence of films such as Garuda in my chest and the Land of Heaven he said. The film turned out to be quite effective and persuasive in harmonizing though the heart (ethics) and if thought (literacy) for the younger generation.
In addition to film, Press Media should also be able to take a role in supporting various government policies, as well as filtering negative issues that are capable of disrupting the reform process that is currently being carried out by the government.
The description of the reality formed by media cohesion is the basis of people’s responses and attitudes towards various social objects. Thus, if the media has wrongly conveyed information, it certainly will give rise to a false picture of social objects. For this reason, the media are required to convey information accurately and with quality. Because the quality of this information is the ethical and moral demands of the masses.
Therefore, the media must also be able to direct all elements of the nation to believe fully in the government, that the government will continue to struggle to prosper the Indonesian people. Because there will be no country children who have the desire to destroy their own people.
Meanwhile, the younger generation as the largest population of social media users in Indonesia, of course must be careful in receiving any information available, lest all information contained in social media be absorbed immediately without going through screening or comparison with other information.
The young generation must become the roots of the Indonesian nation in the future. The younger generation is a potential for the country as a fleet in the progress of the nation. The role of youth is very important in filling development and maintaining national independence.
Nation Building will not be realized maximally if young people do not take part. We certainly still remember the words of Bung Karno “Give me 10 youths so I will shake the world”, the sentence certainly confirms how vital the role of youth is in the progress of the nation and state.
It means the progress of the nation and state. The good and bad of a country can be seen from the quality of its youth, because the young generation is the successor and heir to the nation and state.
The media and the Young Generation have a strategic role in building the nation, the struggle of Suroboyo arek-arek also played through the media to rip the blue color on the Dutch flag. Likewise, young people who are qualitatively have great creativity and energy in making movements when the conditions or the atmosphere is difficult.
