President Jokowi has asked all his staff to study field conditions to prepare a new normal order in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. At present there are already 4 provinces and 25 regencies / cities that are preparing for new normal. The implementation of the new normal is in conjunction with disciplining of health protocols guarded by the National Police and the TNI. Furthermore, the new normal order will be expanded if considered effective.
The WHO world health organization has prepared guidelines for the transition to new normal during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this protocol, the state must prove capable of controlling COVID-19 transmission before implementing new normal. This control must also be carried out in places that have high vulnerability such as nursing homes, mental health facilities, and areas with many residents. Preventive control measures must also be implemented in the workplace.
At present the community has implemented the new normal pattern and has carried out activities as usual, although not completely. Even in some offices there are still implementing work from home policies or applying attendance by 50% to reduce the number of people gathered. In the government environment itself, the pattern of regulating the attendance of employees is also regulated, of course, with a record that does not reduce productivity.
The question that arises is whether this pattern is effective in overcoming the Covid – 19 pandemic in Indonesia, and does this need to be done by all parties? The answer, of course, is necessary and must be done so that it is effective in dealing with Covid – 19. Indeed, the risks faced are also quite high, but with such high risks it will certainly be worth the results obtained.
