Jakarta, Cidiss.Co – Pustaka Institute held a public discussion entitled “Omnibus Law Ciptaker Benefits Laborers and Employers” at Domu Caffe, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Thursday (3/19/2020).
Present as speakers were the General Chairperson of the Head of Kornas Ormas Bhineka Tunggal Ika, Syaiful Rahim and academics from the National University (Unas), Jakarta Amsori Bahruddin Syah.
According to Syaiful, the government will not deter two stakeholders from the Omnibus Law Bill. The government will only bridge the interests of employers and workers.
“The government wants to bridge the two components of stakeholders who have been at odds with each other. Employers want to get big products, workers want to work less hours but want to get big income.
Although Ombnibus Law accommodates employers and workers, according to Syaiful, it needs deeper discussion of the draft bill. All elements are advised to provide input to the DPR.
“This is for the progress of Indonesia, the progress of our investment in the regulation. Also for the progress of workers,” he said.
The same thing was said, Amsori Bahruddin Syah. Amsori said that those who benefit from Omnibus Law are workers. Because, he said, in the draft Omnibus Law bill there would be no more labor brokers when the Omnibus Law was passed into law.
“I think if we read the draft, then this will cut out workers. Omnibus Law is expected that brokers (job seekers) do not exist,” said Amsori.
Another worker benefit that is obtained by the workers from Ombinus Law, Amsori, added is the worker’s income.
“There are overtime hours. If you have worked, people will look for additional or bonuses,” he said.
He then hoped that when the Ombnibus Law was passed into law the employers would look for workers according to the skills of the workers themselves.
“Migrant workers who have the potential to return to Indonesia. And so far those who study economics do not necessarily work at the Bank. So we hope that this Omnibus Law employs in accordance with the skills of workers,” he said.
