The government took the initiative to boost the economy by pushing the Omnibus Law Work Copyright (Ciptaker) Bill. The regulation is believed to be able to facilitate investment and advance the nation’s economy which was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

If there is someone who wants to invest their capital in an area, of course that person must comply with all existing regulations, if not then he will be discouraged to invest his capital in the region.

Of course, a simple bureaucracy will be the main attraction for investors or investors. Therefore, in order for the economy of a region to improve, regulations are needed that are simply to simplify the investment process.

We are all familiar with news about omnibus law that is spread in various media. The pros and cons regarding the regulation also came from various circles.

From the Workers for example, although there are some who reject the omnibus law, the General Chairperson of the Road Transportation Workers Union (SPTJR), Noak Banjarnahor, said that his party did not reject the existence of the Omnibus Law on Employment Copyright.

He instead requested that the workers always work together to establish solidarity with the government, and employers in facing severe situations such as the corona virus pandemic at this time.

On different occasions, Economist Surya Vandiantara said that the Omnibus Law Cipta Karya provided investment opportunities and the investment was needed to enhance a country’s economic growth.

This certainly must be supported by the existence of overlapping regulations. Overlapping regulations turns out to be an indicator of bureaucratic inefficiency and opportunities for the creation of administrative malls and corruption. Omnibus Law Cipta Karya exists to simplify various regulations and cut bureaucratic pathways.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo always reminded that rules at the level of laws, presidential regulations, ministerial regulations, to convoluted regional regulations must be trimmed.

The goal is to make the investment world easier and more transparent so that it will attract the world’s investors to come to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, economic observer from the University of North Sumatra (USU) Wahyu Ario Pratomo assesses that the Omnibus Law, especially the Cipta Karya Bill, must have a full and clear impact.

Wahyu is of the opinion that the Omnibus Law on Cipta Karya has a positive impact on the economy in Indonesia.

He also views that the Working Cipta Bill could boost economic growth, which is currently stagnant, aka the road in place. Wahyu also hopes that those who refuse to hold a dialogue with the government.

Political Communication Expert Iman Soleh said that the draft Omnibus Law aims to improve the investment climate and welfare of workers. Especially about the wage system that is often considered controversial is expected to be a clear regulation in this bill.

The Omnibus Law will provide certainty and guarantee for developing businesses for entrepreneurs, while for workers, the remuneration system changes from the daily system to working hours.

In addition, the other positive side that can be obtained by pelerka from the omnibus law is the wider employment prospects. Where new foreign capital companies will emerge and of course will require local labor.

Iman also said that the Government’s plan to issue the Omnibus Law is a form of anticipation in a number of economic turmoil in the coming years that are full of challenges.

Omnibus Law is very possible to provide convenience to entrepreneurs, moreover the regulation also has a focus on simplifying domestic investment rules. Of course this is expected to be a catalyst for entrepreneurs around the world to invest in Indonesia later.

So far, there are many foreign investors who consider that the business climate in Indonesia is less favorable because it is very bureaucratic. Both in terms of licensing and business operations.

With the laws that are too long and seemingly convoluted, it certainly makes investors reluctant to open and invest in Indonesia, as a result the economy becomes less convincing.

This is a smart strategy where business licensing simplification, investment requirements, employment, ease and protection of MSMEs, ease of doing business, research and innovation, government administration, imposition of sanctions, land acquisition, and ease of government projects and economic zones.

We all certainly hope that the Covid-19 pandemic can end soon, the Omnibus Law is certainly expected to be a government strategy in advancing its main nation from the economic sector.
