Papua Remains Red and White, No Referendum Option

The people of Papua have not lost their enthusiasm in expressing their loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. They reject foreign referendums and interventions on Papuan issues which can divide Indonesian brotherhood and unity.

Hundreds of people from the Indonesian Papuan Alliance (AMPI) flocked together to voice their support for Indonesia. They went down the mountain to convey this in front of the State Palace in early Septembe r2019. The peaceful protest is evidence of their assertiveness as part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia, and will not open referendum options as advocated by separatists.

Action coordinator Rio Wanda said, that Papua is loyal to the red and white, NKRI prices are dead, there is no place for the Morning Star for us. Red and White yes, Morning Star NO.

He also believes that it has become a joint agreement based on the UN’s decision that West Irian, Papua and West Papua have become a legal part of Indonesia. Therefore, his party reminded that the Papuan people to be aware of the efforts of those who deliberately want to divide the nation.

Rio stated his agreement for the police to drag the provocateurs, the complainants of the Papuan people and the pro-foreign NGOs who wanted to cloud the atmosphere in Cenderawasih Earth to the Iron Bars. He hoped that the TNI – Polri would be hard-pressed in providing security to the community.

In addition to making speeches, they also signed the petition on a white cloth that stretched around the location of the peaceful protest. The signature was carried out as a form of solidarity to reject the Papua referendum and arrest provocateurs.

Meanwhile the refusal of the referendum was also vociferously voiced by the Papuan Youth Solidarity Movement and the Melanesian Race, they also rejected foreign intervention on the Papua problem which could divide the unity of Indonesia.

The rejection, as conveyed in the peaceful action by Papuans who are members of the movement, in Jakarta, the action was also attended by activists of the Indonesian Institute of Legal Studies and Observers of around 300 people.

One of the participants in the Ismail Marasabessy said in his speech that the National Police should arrest the person and perpetrators behind the raising of the Morning Star Flag in front of the State Palace.

He hoped that Indonesia could not be destroyed by such elements. Freedom and belief are recognized by all nations, but Melanesian Race is not a handful of people who want destruction in the Republic of Indonesia.

According to him, the people of Papua and the Melanesian race are large and spiritually red and white. Although Indonesian people are affected by the Free Papua movement because of racial issues, it must be smart in addressing this so as not to get caught up in separatist propaganda.

Ismail firmly rejects the politics of fighting religion, ethnicity and nation. He also said that the public is not easily provoked by the hoax or provocative news.

Until whenever Papua is part of the Homeland and can not be separated. All citizens must comply with the law and if there are people who are guilty, they must get a punishment in accordance with applicable law.

NKRI and Pancasila are final and cannot be changed, it is an obligation for all nations to protect Indonesia from all disunity efforts.

So that the whole community from Sabang to Merauke should bring peace, especially in Papua. One concrete way is not easily provoked by untrue reporting. So that a group of people who do not want Indonesia to be peaceful, must be resisted.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Mahfud MD also said that Papua could not be independent because it had declared unity with Indonesia legally and was ratified in a UN resolution. The resolution passed and cannot be revoked.

So that the desire of a group of people so that Papua can be independent, is only a false dream.

The attention of the Government is indeed not diminished for Papua, every effort is made for the realization of improvements in Papua in all sectors.

The desire of the people of Papua to be part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia must be maintained in order to maintain the unity of Indonesia. There is no such thing as a referendum, it’s time we clean up for Papua and Indonesia.
