After the 2019 election which was held quite successfully on April 17, the Indonesian social media universe was filled with news and info that was quite sad. Starting from the accusation of fraudulent survey institutions that conducted quick counts to serious accusations that the KPU was cheating.
The Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) invited all parties to work together to create a safe and peaceful atmosphere for the 2019 Election.
PBNU Chairman Said Aqil Siroj reminded that the losing parties and winners would not provoke each other later. Said Aqil Siroj said that it did not provoke the people with hoax and hate speech, accepting the results of the election with Legowo.
According to Said Aqil Siroj, if there are parties who object to the results of the General Election, they can use constitutional procedures and mechanisms available in accordance with the applicable rules.
Said Aqil said, the election is a party of democracy that should be celebrated peacefully and still maintain the spirit of brotherhood rather than hostility.
The 2019 election, said Said, was the first simultaneous election held in Indonesia and became the test stone for the readiness of this nation to develop an advanced and civilized democracy.The success of this year’s election will strengthen the perception of the world that a majority Muslim Indonesia can juxtapose Islam and democracy in one breath. A dignified election is a reflection of a cultured and civilized nation. Let’s make it happen together.
