PPKM Effectiveness Requires Collaboration of All Parties

The effectiveness of implementing Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) requires the collaboration of all parties. With the involvement of all levels of society, it is hoped that PPKM can provide optimal results in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.

The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) is a policy taken by the government to reduce the potential for the spread of the Corona virus. This policy is also considered to have produced results, as evidenced by the ease of isolation rooms and the decline in confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The success of reducing the PPKM level at this time is certainly the result of cooperation and collaboration from all levels of society. This is certainly proof that PPKM can be a role model for Indonesia.

The Executive Director of the Institute for Health Development Studies and Consultations (LPK2PK) Dr. Ardiansyah Bahar said, “If PPKM is carried out properly, of course, daily cases of Covid-19 will decrease. The condition is that PPKM must be carried out properly. The government, community and private parties comply with applicable regulations.

Alexander Ginting as Head of the Health Handling Division of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas), said that PPKM is one of Indonesia’s model instruments in the context of tackling the COVID-19 pandemic. PPKM is believed to provide a number of benefits, namely it can reduce mobility, improve the performance of the PPKM command post at the village and sub-district level and establish stricter supervision of community behavior to implement the 3M health protocol (prokes) in order to cut off the transmission of the Corona virus.

In addition, PPKM can encourage 3T (Testing, Tracing and Treatment), especially contact tracing can work continuously. Although the confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been sloping, PPKM is considered capable of preventing a larger transmission. PPKM can also be used to control so that there are no spikes in the future.

Alexander said, since implementing the emergency PPKM in July 2021, it was continued with PPKM with levels ranging from 1-4. PPKM extension was carried out for the ninth time. It can be seen that the number of Covid-19 cases has decreased and many are different from the critical situation that had occurred in mid-July 2021 compared to now, especially the occupancy rate of beds in hospitals, which previously could have been up to 90%, finally dropped to below 20%.

Likewise, active cases and positive cases of COVID-19 have dropped to below 10,000 and then the death rate has reached the 200s.

This development is certainly quite good and then the response is very fast. Of course this happened because of the fast movement of all existing elements, both from the central government, regional governments, the Indonesian National Army, the Indonesian Police, together with the task force. This cannot be done if only the government but also involves the community.

In addition, there has also been a decline in the PPKM level from the previous level 4 with a very high incidence. Some are already at level 2 with a moderate incidence and level 1 with a low incidence. There are no longer any areas in the Java and Bali islands that have PPKM level 4.

However, there are still some areas that implement PPKM level 4, namely Aceh Tamiang and Pidie in Aceh, Bangka in Bangka Belitung, Padang in West Sumatra, Banjarbaru and Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, Balikpapan and Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan, and the cities of Tarakan and Bulungan in South Kalimantan. South Kalimantan. While PPKM level 3 applies in 105 districts/cities, PPKM level 2 in 250 districts/cities and PPKM level 1 in 21 districts/cities.

It should be noted that, in the implementation of PPKM level 2, public transportation such as mass transportation is allowed to carry passengers with a capacity of 100%, but still applies health protocols. Meanwhile, arts, culture, sports and social activities that are held in places that can cause crowds are allowed to open with a maximum capacity of 50%.

Meanwhile, activities at shopping centers/malls are opened with a maximum capacity of 50% of capacity, and operating hours are only permitted until 20:00 local time. also rare. This shows that the implementation of PPKM does have a significant impact on the number of people exposed to COVID-19.

Indonesia’s success in reducing the number of patients infected with the Corona virus deserves to be appreciated, this certainly cannot be separated from collaboration between officials and public awareness.
