The polemic of the vaccination program is a matter of debate in the community. In response to this, President Jokowi emphasized that he was the first person to be injected with a vaccine so that people believe that the vaccine is safe to use.
The government is designing a Covid-19 vaccination program to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission. Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Daeng M Faqih also stated that the doctors who were members of the medical organization were ready to be the first to receive the Corona vaccine injection after President Jokowi also received the vaccine.
In response to this, President Jokowi has emphasized that he is ready to be the first person in Indonesia to receive a Covid-19 vaccine injection. This decision was taken so that people would believe in the safety of the vaccine.
This was stated directly through his press statement at the Merdeka Palace on December 16, 2020, which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat youtube channel .
On the same occasion, the former Mayor of Surakarta also ensured that the government would not set a fee for the Covid-19 vaccine. So that the corona or Covid-19 vaccine will be given free of charge.
Jokowi also reminded the public to always apply health protocols such as washing hands, maintaining distance and wearing masks. He said the protocol must be applied in a disciplined manner.
On a different occasion, he also said that the government also involved the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in bringing the covid vaccine to Indonesia, to ensure the halal vaccine.
He hopes that everyone will want it and no one will refuse, because the vaccine has also been followed by MUI and the Ministry of Religion to the factory. Later, MUI will also issue a statement regarding the halalness of the vaccine.
In Indonesia, Jokowi will be the first to receive a vaccine to show that the Corona vaccine is a safe vaccine. So that later if everyone has received the vaccine, it means that Indonesia has returned to normal.
Responding to this, Ferdinan Hutahean as a former Democratic Party cadre gave a good response to President Jokowi’s plan.
He said that with President Jokowi’s availability for vaccine shots, people who were suspicious could believe it.
Through his twitter account , Ferdinand suggested that Aa Gym read the news.
Jokowi’s readiness to become the first person to be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine also breaks the speculation of some who are still questioning the safety of the Sinovac vaccine from China.
Of course we hope that the Corona vaccine, which is currently available, will speed up the clinical trial process and also the distribution permit so that the public has certainty.
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Health Number 9860/2020, the government has determined six types of Covid-19 vaccines that can be used in Indonesia, namely vaccines produced by Bio Farma, AstraZeneca , Sinopharm , Moderna , Pfizer / BioNTech and Sinovac .
As many as 1.2 million doses of the vaccine made by Sinovac from China arrived in Indonesia on December 6. This is certainly a breath of fresh air after the corona virus pandemic has become something that has undermined the health and economic sectors.
However, the vaccination process cannot yet be carried out because it is still waiting for the results of the phase III clinical trial of the synovac vaccine conducted by PT Bio Farma in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Padjajaran University .
The Covid-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial Research Team from Unpad said that the results of the Phase III clinical trial of the new Sinovac vaccine could be announced at the earliest at the end of January 2021. After the results of the clinical trial stage were known, then the team would report to BPOM. Then, BPOM will issue an emergency use authorization (EUA) or distribution permit in an emergency. After pocketing the permit, then the vaccination process can be carried out.
Of course, we hope that the distribution of vaccines can be accelerated so that the social conditions of the community can recover quickly and the economy can move again.
