Jakarta, CIDISS – Radicalism is an embryo of terrorism, radical ideologies can infiltrate and spread through various means, both conventional and unconventional manner by utilizing the internet and so forth. Various efforts carried out by radical groups to recruit new members as followers by spreading their respective ideologies through propaganda in cyberspace. But not only that, a radical group allegedly had entered high school and college. They attack the young generation for the further spread of radical.
Research results from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) shows, radicalism has spread in schools in Indonesia. 21 percent of students and 21 percent of teachers said Pancasila is irrelevant used the nation because 84.8 percent of the students and 76.2 percent of teachers are more amenable to the application of Islamic Shari’ah. In addition, 52.3 percent of students agreed violence for religious solidarity and 14.2 percent justify bombings carried radicals. Even the ideas of radicalism also been invested in the kindergarten children. As kindergarten in Malang which prohibits students salute the flag because it was considered idolatrous. Besides tribute to the flag, they also prohibit students sing songs Padamu Negeri.
These conditions, due to lack of awareness of many stakeholders about the pursuit and maneuver this radical group. Radical understanding developed among educated young generation is very dangerous because it can give birth to a new generation of radicals are better educated.
Can imagine the future of the Indonesian state, if the younger generation is the compact calls for radical ideologies and allow violence to enforce that ideology. It is not impossible state of Indonesia can be divided up and bring chaos everywhere as happens in countries of the Middle East
Therefore, it needs the willingness of the various elements of society to increase vigilance against radicalism. In this case, the role of the education sector is necessary to select and eliminate radical ideologies among students. Planting concept of nationalism is necessary to prevent the entry of such radical ideologies. In addition, the role of parents to continue to provide direction and guidance to their children is also very important, so that the next generation is not affected by the radicalism which continues to spread by the radical groups in order to expand the network and his group for their benefit.
