Realizing National Unity Post-Election

Let us look at past history books, we can find out how the efforts of the Indonesian Nation could escape the grip of the invaders and proclaim independence on August 17, 1945, this was none other than the Indonesian people united and did not want to be divided by the Dutch with the politics of fighting or who known as devide et impera politics.

History in the archipelago notes that national unity is capable of giving birth to major events. Call it the national revival in 1908, the first and second youth congress in 1926 and 1928. That the youth became the pioneers of national unity.

The effort to mobilize national unity at that time was evident when Ir Soekarno founded the Indonesian National Party (PNI) in 1927 and Islamic figures founded the Nahdlatul Ulama in 1926, and Muhammadyah in 1912.

In 1928 a second youth congress was formed known as the youth oath and became the starting point for the fusion of regional identity of various youth organizations. All young women agree to abandon primordial ties and echo the spirit of national unity.

From the story, it is certainly appropriate to make the nation’s reflection on a democratic party that still leaves a political polarization residue. Where many people are intimately strained just because of different support.

Finally, people power appears to cause chaos and allegedly will be infiltrated by terrorists if the National Police do not anticipate it.

Of course this is sufficient evidence, if the value of national unity is fragile, then peace and harmony between people will be pawned.

In addition, the Central Board of the Indonesian Youth National Committee (DPP KNPI) thanked the KNPI cadres and the community, who had served as election organizers such as the KPU, Bawaslu, Independent Election Supervisors, Witnesses starting from the center, province, district / city to friend involvement – best friends in PPK, PPSS and KPPS in organizing the 2019 Election.

In addition, the KNPI also appreciated and thanked the TNI and Polri for their success in maintaining security and order when the people joined the Indonesian democratic party, which is an Australian study institute, the Lowy Institute stated that elections in Indonesia were the most complicated polling day ever done.

KNPI must also be prepared to deal with unconstitutional movements that are carried out by irresponsible parties. Because in truth, election disputes can be taken through legal channels, not street actions.

“We, the DPP KNPI, invite all people to join hands again, maintain national unity, bury all resentment and hatred, and let us return to our respective activities for the progress of the country,” said Haris first as Chairman of the KNPI.

After the election was held, the split due to the partiality of one of the supporters of the presidential candidate was still prone to occur. Therefore, Indonesian Youth to be the front guard in maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

He also appealed to all parties to respect the presidential candidates in the 2019 Concurrent Election, maintain national unity and integrity, maintain peace and forbid supporters to carry out acts of provocation which only disrupt public security and order.

Elections are one way to form a government that is fair and truly represents the people and strengthens national unity. For this reason, all parties involved should play a noble role, whether they are supervisors, election participants, or supporters so that they will always ease the chaos that never ends.

The most important thing at this time is that the whole community is able to see that all are brothers and sisters of the same country and water. Whatever differences may not cause anyone to be marginalized. Whoever is determined by the KPU as the winner must show an attitude of statesmanship by embracing all parties – both the secular and the opposite.
