Security is a crucial issue in the Papua region, especially ahead of the New Year because usually at that moment many people are active to fulfill all their needs. The public is also urged to take part in maintaining security in Papua, so that this momentum can continue without causing any disruption to social security or the addition of new cases of Covid-19.

In order to maintain security in the Papua region, the Mimika Papua Police prohibits local residents from setting off firecrackers in welcoming the New Year 2021.

Mimika Police Chief AKBP IGG Era Adhinata said, according to the regulations, it is not allowed to sell and sound firecrackers, except for sparks or fireworks.

The community must be able to differentiate between what is allowed and what is not. If firecrackers are prohibited. There are rules. What is allowed is only fireworks, said Era Adhinat a.

In connection with this, the local police will check places that sell firecrackers and sparks in the city of Mimika.

Firecrackers are prohibited because they make a big noise so that they greatly disturb the comfort of the residents. There is also no product license .

He also asked for support from all components of Mimika residents to be actively involved in efforts to maintain and create a safe and peaceful atmosphere and order in the city of Mimika during December, especially during New Year celebrations .

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of joint personnel including the TNI, Polri and related agencies will be tasked with securing the turn of the year.

In implementing Christmas and New Year (Nataru) security, the National Police has deployed 83,917 Polri personnel, 15,842 TNI personnel, and 55,086 personnel from other related institutions.

These personnel will be assigned to 1,607 security posts to carry out security related to immediate security and security disturbances, as well as 675 service points to carry out security in crowd centers, shopping centers, stations, terminals, airports, ports.

While the personnel involved in the 2020 Matoa wax operation were 1,873 personnel from the Papua Police and Polres of the ranks, including 313 Polda Papua and 1560 Polres personnel.

This was observed when the Papua Police and the Polres with the support of related agencies and other community service partners carried out a centralized police operation with the Operation Code ” Lilin-Matoa-2020″ which was carried out for 15 days throughout the jurisdiction of the Papua Police.

Christmas and New Year celebrations are universally celebrated by the community through worship activities and New Year celebrations at tourist attractions, which will increase activities in the center of the crowd.

Of course, this increase in community activity has the potential to cause disruption of social security, immediate disruption of security and safety, and violations of the Covid-19 health protocol.

Therefore, the National Police is holding Operation Candle-2020 which will be carried out for 15 days, starting from 21 December 2020 to 4 January 2021, by prioritizing promotional and preventive activities in a humane manner, as well as firm and professional law enforcement.

Of course, by continuing to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19, so that people can celebrate Christmas and New Year with a sense of security and comfort.

The National Police Chief emphasized that this security should not be considered as an ordinary annual routine , so that it tends to make us tend to underestimate and be less aware of any dynamics of community development, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic, we must be more concerned.

He reminded that the Christmas and New Year celebration activities would not cause new clusters for the spread of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, people in Yakuhimo Regency, Papua are asked not to hold parties on the eve of the New Year 2021 celebrations. The aim is to maintain regional conduciveness and prevent the spread of Covid-19. Therefore, the health protocol must be applied in every community activity.

The Head of the Yakuhimo Police, AKBP Deni Herdiana said that currently the area is still in the status of the COVID-19 epidemic. Therefore, health protocols must be applied in every community activity.

Then, to keep the situation in the region to remain conducive Yakuhimo and safe, Superintendent Dean hopes, people do not consume alcoholic minumal (alcohol) as well as firecrackers or fireworks ap i.

Security in the Papua region is very important to pay attention to, this is because there is a lot of potential that can disrupt order and security in the Papua region.
