“In medicine it is better to prevent than treat, because treating it requires very expensive funds. Similarly, with radicalism and terrorism, we must prioritize prevention by providing an understanding of the dangers of radicalism and terrorism.”
This was revealed by Makmun Dja’afar, the administrator of the Central Sulawesi Terrorism Prevention Coordination Forum (FKPT) in a speech at the BNPT festival video workshop.
The activity with the theme of being Indonesia presented speakers including Iwan Setiawan (Australian Embassy bombing victim), Dyah Kusumawati (film practitioner), and Prisia Nasution (artist).
“The activity aims to build awareness of students in contributing to the prevention of radicalism and terrorism through social media by making short video works that reconcile,” said Makmun.
The activity took place at Alamanda Lokon Resort, Tomohon City. Participants who attended were 126 students from various schools in North Sulawesi, especially from Tomohon City.
This activity is expected to be able to allow awareness for students in preventing radicalism and terrorism, especially through social media, because students have a strong contribution to preventing radicalism and terrorism.
