The death of the Head of the Papua Regional State Intelligence Agency (Kabinda), Brig. Gen. TNI I Gusti Putu Danny Nugraha Karya, on Sunday (25/4) at around 15.30 WIT in Beoga, Puncak Regency, Papua Province indicates that the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB) deserves to be called as a terrorist group. Brigadier General Putu Danny together with the BIN Task Force and the TNI-Polri Task Force were suddenly intercepted by the KKB group. During the interception, a shootout occurred so that Brigadier General Putu Danny died in the incident.
Early April the KKB also reportedly burned three schools and shot dead a teacher in Beoga, Puncak Regency. After a few days, the KKB went into action again by burning the teacher’s housing and the house of the tribal chief in Dambet Village. Responding to this incident, the Government through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam), Mahfud MD, has categorized the Papua Armed Criminal Group (KKB) and all organizations and people who are members of it and who support the movement as terrorists.
The government established this decision based on Law (UU) Number 5 of 2018 concerning Amendments to Law Number 15 of 2003 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism into Law. This decision has also served as a green light and an answer to fundamental questions regarding the status of the Papuan KKB. This is because the massive acts of violence carried out by the KKB often lead to the death and death of the nation’s best peacekeeper son in the land of Cendrawasih.
What was done by the Papua Terrorist Separatist Group (KST) is a form of terrorism crime because in fact they have carried out a series of acts of terror that have been carried out with various motives behind the shootings carried out by KST, the aim is that the situation in the Papua region is increasingly not conducive even though massive infrastructure development has been carried out by the government.
The statement of activists and KST officials that many human rights violations have occurred in Papua, it is they themselves who have committed human rights violations. Many civilians have become victims in the name of the Papuan independence struggle. This makes it even clearer that they are in fact serious human rights violators and are destroying the peace of the Papuan people. It is appropriate that KST must be eliminated because it has tormented society and violated human rights by acting beyond human boundaries. They do not care about human rights violations, do not care about state regulations and do not care about the damage to this nation. It is time for us to give support to the security forces to eradicate the groups that often cause terror in Papua. Indonesia must act decisively, because if it is not handled firmly, then the KST actions that take place in Papua could endanger national integration and threaten the Papuan people. Never again have members of the TNI or Polri and the people who are victims of the Papuan Terrorist Separatist Group atrocities. (Aprilianto)
