Stop Spreading Covid-19 With No “Mudik”

Appeals to worship, study, and work at home have been used by some people to go home to their hometown. As a result, there was a surge in Covid-19 patients in several areas and related to the coming immigrants. It is wise for the wise community to stop the spread of Covid-19 by not returning to their respective regions, especially before the coming of the holy month of Ramadan.

Eid mudik polemic is now being discussed. Prohibition to not travel during the plague struck as if ignored by many parties. In fact, this crowd has the potential to transmit a significantly larger outbreak. According to a number of parties, it turned out that newcomers were considered “stealing” homecoming trips. This is evident in the sale of tickets for a number of trains, buses and other transportation tickets.

The global pandemic which is now attacking certainly affects the economic conditions of citizens. Because, there have been many agencies, factories and markets affected by independent lockdown. So that many dismiss employees. Thus, many choose to return home even though it has been forbidden. Moreover, the momentum of Ramadan fasting and Eid are also near. But, do you have to pawn a life like this? Given the Corona outbreak is at an emergency level.

Previously, Vice-President Ma’ruf Amin also appealed to the public not to go home during the Idul Fitri 1 Idul Fitri holiday of 1441 Hijri, which will fall on May 24 to 25, 2020. The reason is that the government has set COVID-19 emergency response to May 29 coming.

Ma’ruf stated that staying in touch when Eid was very good. However, do not do anything that harms the other party. Because, Corona will more quickly spread through a gathering or crowd of people. He also understands the feelings of the people who are worried that they cannot return to their hometown during the Eid holiday. Although forced to go home, surely must protect themselves from the various possibilities of transmission of the corona virus at home later. Is this not even scary?

Ma’ruf also recommended that the friendship be held temporarily through telephone connections, social media and also video calls. Including the implementation of Eid al-Fitr prayers specifically for the ODP was asked not to carry out congregational prayers. In order to avoid potential transmission. So that all can be safely controlled.

In line with the opinion of Ma’ruf Amin, the Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, namely Achmad Yurianto asked the public not to travel long distances, for example going home, in the midst of the Corona outbreak that is currently happening. He warned that the risk of contracting the Corona virus was greater when people insisted on traveling. therefore, he also asked the community to be wiser when planning to go home. In fact, he hopes that the homecoming plan is postponed first until conditions return conducive.

He revealed this, because it had come to the attention of the government because the state also did not want an increase and transmission of the Corona Virus case which was increasing.

Not without reason, if this government appeal seems very strict. Because the virus that is actively transmitted to this crowd has dangerous effects, including death. The number of reported deaths has become a polemic in its own right for the country. Besides wanting to protect its citizens, the government also wants this outbreak to be immediately overcome through an independent lockdown, by preventing all Indonesians from traveling first.

Do not dismiss the potential generated by this virus is indeed so large. In fact, other countries have reported hundreds of deaths. The worst came from Wuhan City, the region where the virus originated. Nevertheless there are still those who are “grumpy” and seem challenging. This virus is no joke, now Indonesia is Corona Emergency! Come on, self-aware, clean up, together fight for the country.

We really don’t know when this epidemic will end. It could be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next Sunday, not next or even next year. But what is certain and we must do now is to avoid and suppress as much as possible the potential for transmission. Namely, by implementing recommendations and rules from the government in this regard. One of which is to delay or avoid traveling long distances. Let’s hold our ego for a while so that all Indonesian citizens are able to cope with this epidemic well. In addition, so that no more casualties fall in vain. Corona Emergency, let’s stay at home!
