Indonesia’s economic sector had collapsed due to the enormity of the corona storm. The government is trying to cure this by making a Job Creation Law. This law changes the regulations so that the creation of cooperatives is made easier. There will be many cooperatives in the regions that will make people’s financial conditions rise again.
When many people lose their jobs, they have 2 choices: look for new ones or open businesses. However, when you want to start a new business, you are usually constrained by the main problem, namely capital. Because there is no such thing as a business without capital. At a minimum, you must have credit for promotions in cyberspace.
When they need capital, they can change their thinking by establishing a cooperative. The government encourages the formation of business cooperatives in the regions by enacting a Job Creation Law. Why should a cooperative? Because the cooperative is a jointly owned business entity so that the capital is shared. So it will be lighter and generate mutual benefits.
In the Job Creation Law, the regulations regarding the creation of cooperatives are amended and the requirements made easier by the government. Previously, Law number 25 of 992 stipulated that the primary cooperative was formed at least 20 people. So in the Job Creation Law article 6 paragraph 1, primary cooperatives can be formed with only 9 people.
In addition, the Job Creation Law also states that member meetings can be held online. So that people can form cooperatives between regions. In its official release, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs stated that the national inter-regional cooperatives will make their territorial ties liquid. In that sense, cooperative members will have a spirit of unity in diversity.
The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs is targeting young people in setting up entrepreneurial cooperatives. The image of the cooperative as an ancient business entity is trying to be shifted, because in fact a cooperative can be formed into a start-up or other business. Provided that they still have the life of a cooperative in it.
This youth-owned cooperative can be formed as a joint business model. For example, members of a joint cooperative for capital, then create an online shop and website. Managers also buy gadgets and other supporting equipment to run this joint venture. So that just 500,000 rupiah in joint venture is enough to start the business.
Another advantage of cooperatives is that there are many people who are members. So that when there are obstacles, they can be solved together. The members also have different backgrounds, so they can help each other and share knowledge. For example, members who are online practitioners can provide material about the intricacies of online business, how to do branding, and so on.
If this collaboration is successful, it will make the nine members benefit together. They can survive during the pandemic and are eager to continue entrepreneurial cooperatives, because it has been proven to be fruitful. The business will grow and the turnover will continue to climb.
When entrepreneur cooperatives get bigger, they can reduce unemployment. Because the administrators need new employees to help with operations. For example in the delivery, packing, administration, and so on. So that this cooperative can help more people who were previously confused because they did not have a job.
As a result, there is a positive domino effect in the form of an increase in people’s purchasing power. Because they have a business in the cooperative or become employees. When the purchasing power increases, the market will be busy again and help the traders. The economic wheels will roll fast, and Indonesia can survive the financial crisis volume 2.
So we must not accuse the Job Creation Law of only benefiting big businessmen. Because this law also makes it easier for the little people to create entrepreneurial cooperatives. They can do business together and make a profit. So that it increases the standard of living and the family is prosperous.
