Kotawaringin Barat – CIDISS. Pangkalan Bun is one of the areas in Indonesia that has successfully developed the integration program of cow – palm. Through the integration program of cow palm, cattle ranch in Kotawaringin Barat regency grows rapidly. Based on these reasons, the government through the Ministry of Agriculture built the Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH).
Friday, 3 Nov 2017, Ministry of Agriculture in Kotawaringin Barat District, Central Kalimantan inaugurated the Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH). Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH) has an area of about 5 hectares and was built by Agricultural Quarantine Center, Ministry of Agriculture in Kotawaringin Barat District, Central Kalimantan.
Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH) is located in Sungai Kapitan Village, Kumai District or about 12 km from downtown of Kotawaringin Barat, Pangkalan Bun.
Head of Quarantine Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Banun Harpini said this installation is the first and largest in Indonesia and is claimed to be able to accommodate as many as 600 cows at once.
“There are 7 Animal Quarantine Installations, in Jayapura, Balikpapan, the first is in here. In Balikpapan is bigger, but still in the finishing process, and it cannot be used yet,” he said.
Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH) which was built in 2015 spent cost around Rp15 billion from the state budget. He mentioned, because the land is wide, in the future IKH can be developed again up to the capacity of 2,000 of cattle.
“If the cow wants to be developed, whether the brood stock or the fattened cow will need to be installed, so we complete one of the needs of the people of Kotawaringin Barat and Central Kalimantan,” said Banun.
Regent of Kotawaringin Barat, Nurhidayah hopes, the vision of his region become meat producers will be soon realized with the construction of this IKH. Through IKH, the quality and health of livestock imported to be developed in the area can be controlled. (CF)
