The Mutual Spirit of Vaccination is Judged Right Against the Pandemic

JAKARTA – Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Association of Indonesian Hospitals (Persi) Dr. Lia G Partakusuma said that currently the Government continues to vaccinate the public, to fight the transmission of the Covid-19 virus in Indonesia.

Nationally, the total target of vaccination in Indonesia is 181,554,465 people. Hundreds of millions of people who are vaccinated consist of health human resources, public officials and the elderly.

“This vaccination must be carried out as an effort to prevent Covid-19,” said Dr. Lia, who is also the Director of Friendship Hospital, Jakarta in a virtual talkshow “Support National Vaccination and Mutual Cooperation”, Wednesday (24/3/2021).

The graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (UI) also said that the implementation of vaccinations currently being carried out by Indonesia has been regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Health No.10 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Vaccinations in the Context of the Covid-10 Pandemic.

There are five brands of Covid-19 vaccines currently used in Indonesia, namely Sinovac, Navavax, Covax / Gavi, AstraZeneca and Pfizer. The vaccine has also been conducted clinical trials on 1,600 volunteers in Bandung.

“Apart from clinical trials, MUI has also issued a fatwa that the use of AstraZeneca vaccines is permissible,” he said.

Therefore, said Dr. Lia, this Covid-19 vaccination must be mutually agreed upon as a preventive effort and in the spirit of mutual cooperation.

Inggar Saputra, Insure Institute said that the national spirit which contains the values of mutual cooperation can encourage the acceleration of the national Covid-19 vaccination.

“The mutual cooperation vaccination that will be carried out by the business world is the main asset to unite against the spread of Covid-19, of course with the spirit of Pancasila values,” said Inggar.

Spokesperson for the Indonesia Care Forum (ICF), Rakisa said that the virtual talkshow that was initiated in collaboration with SMI was none other than due to an infodemic, where information was abundant regarding Covid-19 vaccination, including deliberate attempts to advance the agenda of a particular group.

This infodemic, he said, was no less dangerous than the pandemic itself because there was a lot of inaccurate information and hoaxes that could lead to public opinion against vaccination.

“This hoax information can clearly influence the vaccination program in dealing with a pandemic. Therefore, literacy that comes from the right information source is needed, ”said Rakisa.
