CIDISS. Administrative violations during the general election campaign simultaneously began to be found. After a month of campaigning, the General Election Supervisory Board recorded administrative violations as the most cases carried out by election participants, both parties, legislative candidates, and the presidential and vice presidential candidates. Based on the findings, the General Election Supervisory Agency has found 309 alleged violations of general elections throughout Indonesia. If further elaborated, as many as 128 cases are alleged violations of campaign administration. Most of the findings are the results of public complaints and findings of the Election Supervisory Board in the field. It is believed that the number will increase, given the campaign period is still quite long, which is 6 months.
If proven to have committed an administrative violation, participants in the general election can be sanctioned in the form of written warnings, decrease in campaign props, and termination of advertisements in mass media or social media. The existence of these sanctions is new in this election period, given that the previous electoral law did not concern sanctions for violators of campaign administration rules.
One of the alleged administrative violations was also carried out by the campaign team of presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate Joko Widodo – Ma’ruf Amin, where the pair reportedly violated the Jakarta Election Commission’s decision letter due to videotron advertisements on a number of protocol roads.
In addition to Jokowo – Ma’ruf, another 2019 Presidential Election candidate, Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno, was also reported by the Indonesian Gema Organization to the Election Supervisory Body, regarding alleged campaigning outside the schedule when the Declaration of the Movement of the Mother and Child Movement Drinking Milk (Movement Gold) at East Jakarta Klender Stadium on October 24, 2018.
Looking at the facts above, there is actually no incongruity that occurs during the 2019 presidential and vice presidential election campaign. All parties will be given strict actions and sanctions from the relevant institution if the alleged violation can be proven. Indeed, there are still many assumptions that government institutions tend to be neutral and take sides with certain candidates, especially the ruling government in order to win it again in the next period. But keep in mind that the issue cannot be generalized and the act is only carried out by certain individuals who are just waiting for time until strict sanctions are given.
