Through Port, Jokowi believe Economy of Nabire will increase

One of the most dominant factors is transportation. Because Nabire Regency is geographically very strategic, because it is located in the Cendrawasih Bay area, as well as a gateway for several districts in the vicinity. President Joko Widodo believes economies of scale in Nabire, Papua and surrounding districts are growing rapidly in the future.

The reason, the central government is currently building an international airport and will increase the port capacity in Nabire. During this time Nabire is an area that is considered as an entrance for a number of districts around the difficult to access.

Especially about the port development plan, Jokowi sure, will be built in 2018 by the Ministry of Transportation. The dock will be built longer and the port service offices will be built better.

After visiting to the port, Jokowi said that so this port is really a port for the six districts around Nabire.

He said that last night the president had met with the regent. In essence, they want this Nabire as a liaison. Moreover, President Jokowi has got certainty that there are private parties who want to become stakeholder port. That is, Nabire District is an area that is easy to reach in investment.

Jokowi says that the private is going to come here, that’s good. They bring their own roro boat, bring their own cranes. This means that in business, enter (invest) in Nabire is visible.

Jokowi believes a number of excellent commodities of Nabire Regency or six surrounding districts have the opportunity to be sold to other areas. Some excellent products, including marine fish, citrus fruits, bananas and cut wood. Nevertheless, the President ensured, there is currently no plan of providing incentives for the private sector that will enter the port.

Jokowi said for now it does not exist. But later the private business brings products from here out. Yes if baseball is there, baseball may be lucky.

One step forward has been made by the government, namely the inauguration of coastal crossing services, which is expected to serve the future service of crossing services by sea from the district to Nabire and vice versa. As a more specialized component of society that resides in coastal areas, let’s support this step. As it facilitates all of us as users of marine transportation services, and encourages economic and development improvements in the Nabire region.
