Wamena’s situation after the riots was conducive. This can be seen from the number of economic centers that are running again. The Security Apparatus is committed to protecting all citizens without exception. Refugees are expected to return home.
Minister of Social Affairs (Social Minister) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the condition of Wamena, Papua was increasingly conducive, the people were urged not to exodus and remain in Wamena. Agus appealed to residents not to exodus if there was no urgent need. Because, Wamena’s condition has gradually recovered, including economic activities such as buying and selling on the market.
He also said that fear or worry is something human, but Agus assessed that the community does not need to leave Papua because the land of Papua requires human resources, it requires economic activities which ultimately provides welfare for the Papuan people themselves. In addition, Agus also hopes that all parties can maintain security in Wamena. Moreover, the local government also provides assistance to residents.
While the Ministry of Social Affairs, called Agus, strengthened the social service program in Wamena along with a number of campuses. The Ministry of Social Affairs prepares trauma healing services for Papuans especially Wamena. The Ministry of Social Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) Team provided assistance to victims of riots spread across six refugee points in Wamena, Papua.
As many as six of their locations have been visited regularly at the District Military District Police Command, Bethlehem Church, Adventist Church, Homhom Church and Baiturrahman Mosque in Wamena. According to him, the results of the LDP Team’s assessment showed that in general the cognitive aspects of the refugees showed confusion, they did not know what to do, were worried about things that were unclear going forward.
While in the emotional aspect, they feel scared, anxious, worried, tense, often surprised when they hear a loud voice, always alert, suspicious, sad, uneasy during sleep at night. Meanwhile, LDP Team Coordinator Milly Mildawati said that for the post-conflict handling of Wamena, her party had prepared an intervention plan that was to schedule activities with children and adult women, as well as adult men at the evacuation points every morning and evening. Not to forget the LDP team also invited the survivors to relax Imaginative.
To deal with the problems in Wamena, the Ministry of Social Affairs has channeled assistance worth Rp. 3.89 billion for victims of social unrest in Wamena, Papua. The victim died, the Ministry of Social Affairs provided compensation to the heirs in the amount of Rp. 15 million per person. Deputy Deputy Expert for the Presidential Staff Office, Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, said that the Government claimed that the condition of Wamena, Papua had gradually recovered after the riots in the area broke out some time ago.
Ngabalin said this because there were relatives such as his uncle and sister-in-law who lived there. The conduciveness of Wamena was also strengthened by the explanation of Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw who said that the situation and conditions in Wamena were gradually recovering. This is indicated by the existence of activities as before and the wheels of the economy began to spin again.
In addition, the Trikora Street was already crowded by employees ‘and workers’ vehicles going to where they worked. The security forces also continue to guard the situation while developing investigations to pursue the rioters.
Regarding this matter, Paulus mentioned that his party had arrested 7 suspects of the riot that occurred in Wamena. On the other hand, Paul also ensured that his side would continue to pursue the other rioters. On a different occasion, Deputy Chairman of the National Economic and Industrial Committee (KEIN) Arif Budimanta also hoped that economic recovery in Wamena Papua could proceed quickly.
According to him, the trade in basic necessities provided the second largest contribution of around 16.5 percent to Wamena’s economy, after the transportation and warehousing sector which accounted for 18.7 percent.
Meanwhile, Muhammadiyah Central Chairman Haedar Nashir, requested that people throughout Indonesia not oppose or issue statements that could make the situation heavier and not conducive. Through his Twitter account, he also prayed that Indonesia would always be given peace and a solution to solve all the problems being faced.
We all certainly hope that Wamena’s conduciveness will be maintained, so that the community can resume activities as usual, without fear of threats from irresponsible parties.
