CIDISS – The political steps of the government that make the election of regional heads simultaneously deserve appreciation. Despite the problems since the first run, the government managed to solve every problem. One of them is by giving birth to the regulation in the form of Law No. 10 of 2016 on the Election of Regional Head.
KPU RI has set 27 June 2018 as the voting date in simultaneous election of regional heads 2018 which is planned to be followed by 171 regions. Pilkada Serentak 2018 is the third wave and the mandate of Law 10/2016 on the Election of Regional Head. While the 2019 General Election was historically born due to the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 14 / PPU-XI / 2013 on the 2019 General Election. That is, the incorporation of the Legislative Election and the Executive Election in one election day.
Democratic parties at every level always present a number of challenges, especially for the organizers of elections as technical organizers. The existence of professional election organizers, a stake in the implementation of elections simultaneously. It is remembered that the professionalism of election organizer apparatus from time to time has always been a record.
In a situation of direct elections, KPU / KPUD’s credibility is strongly tested, besides that it should also be able to manage the political parties of candidates who still have some internal conflict. Therefore, the government has prepared various supporting tools for the simultaneous election to run well.
If simultaneous election can take place democratically, honestly and fairly as a fruit of work from various parties, it will make a good contribution to the regions conducting the pilkada. This is because the pilkada is at the same time the entrance to build a quality democracy. The candidates, the polytheists, and the people are deeply involved in realizing a democratic, fair and just election; capable of producing clean heads of regional heads and having the capacity to lead and build the region forward. Once again, Pilkada is just an entrance to building democracy. If Pilkada runs successfully, then procedural democracy problems are answered already. Just waiting for the realization of elected local leaders who are able to work to realize the welfare and justice of society – as a substantial democratic dream. (MA)
