40 Percent of companies in Kotawaringin Timur Regency have not implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

CIDISS – the role of Corporations to society should make people get better and prosperous. Through funds or corporate responsibility through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). However, based on the data and observations of the Government of Kotawaringin Timur Regency, Central Kalimantan, at least 40 percent of Companies in the area have not yet implement a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Assistant II secretariat area of Kotawaringin Timur (Kotim) Halikinoor, as quote in Antaranews Kalteng.com stated that 40 percent of the company which have not implement the CSR programs.

He said, the Government continues to strive and asks the company carry out the mandate of the law. One of the efforts in order to make the company particularly large private estates (PBS) Palm oil implement CSR, so that the Government will establish a CSR forum in Kotawaringin Timur.

Halikinoor said, if CSR forum, so local governments can eventually “forced” the company to join in it. “the basic of establishment of the CSR forum that in order for the execution of the program that the company could be more parties carried out purposeful and coordinated. Because, from 45 companies licensing Palm and 11 permit mining company, and other companies, we believe to be able to contribute to the community, “he said.

CSR Forum that does not only involve local governments and companies, but also other parties, such as NGOS, activists, practitioners, and academics. CSR Forum also will establish a harmonization, so that conflicts with the residents around the company’s investment could be minimised.

He hopes, through this CSR forum can reduce the problem of land disputes between people with the company that had occurred and there was a harmoniasasi between the community and the company.
