57 thousand people Unemployed in Central Kalimantan

Choirul Fuadi, Central Kalimantan, CIDISS – Unemployment is a problem for an area or region. Recent years, the entrepreneurial sector is still very low in Indonesia, which is only 2%.

Moreover, every year, the number of labour force continues to grow. While the number of job vacancies is still a bit and looks even diminished.

Based on the data of the Central Bureau of statistics (BPS) per August 2015, the number of unemployment in Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) is increase rapidly on 57.780 persons of unemployed in Central Kalimantan. The number increased 4.54% compared to August 2014 of the unemployment number which only recorded 38.682 people.

In the same time, the number of the labour force increased 79.290 people or become 1.272.461 people. The labour force last year reached 1.193.171 peoples.

By the amount of number, the number of people working is 1.214.681 people, increase than last August 2014 which amount 1.154.489 persons, or increased 60.192 people. During this period also increase in the rate of labour force participation (TPAK) of 2.55%.

Residents work with tertiary education amount only 123.781 peoples (10.19%), includes 30.217 peoples (2.49%) diploma and 93.564 educated persons (7.70%) of university educated.

An increasing number of workers occurred in the industrial sector, the construction sector, trade sector, the sector of the transport, warehousing, transport and communication sector, financial institutions, real estate, business rentals, rentals and business services companies as well as civic, social service sectors and individuals.

While the agriculture sector, plantation, forestry, hunting and fishing, mining and excavation  sector and electricity, gas and water, is the sector that experienced a decline in the number of workers.

However, in terms of the amount of labour, agriculture still remains the largest of workers which is of 562,671 labour or 46,32%. Then followed in the trade sector, restaurants, and accommodations (17.52%) also civic, social service sectors, and individuals (16.12%).
