Central Kalimantan, CIDISS – In a series of celebration the birthday of Prophet Muhammad PBUH 2015 or 12 Rabi ‘ Al Awal 1437, Islamic Calender, in Masjid Jami Muara Teweh, Barito Utara, the organizers of the great days of Islam (PHBI) Barito Utara did annual tradition “Baayun Maulid”.
51 babies and children of Muara Teweh, Barito Utara Regency, Central Kalimantan followed the tradition.
This annual tradition by way of swinging the child and aimed to let the child if it grows into a healthy person dedicated to older people and can lead by example follow the Prophet Muhammad.
When the baby or child even adults who follow the tradition of baayun, it accompanied by shalawat and song that glorifies character of Prophet Muhammad who became the guidance for the Muslims around the world.
The tradition of baayun this is a unique tradition of society Banjar people in Borneo, i.e. this ceremony is part of a series of ceremonies life cycle which includes pregnancy, birth, and infancy toward adulthood, marriage and death.
The tradition of baayun actually existed before the spread of Islam in the land of Banjar. This is the life cycle of childhood, which is when the child is aged 0-5 years or are still toddlers.
The ceremony of baayun which is an assimilation between banjarese urang culture is based on the teachings of the Islamic religion and Keharingan is now termed a warning every time a birthday of the Prophet. It also as an expression of prayer for the child steps forward, this tradition as well as the efforts of the talisman.
The Chairman of the Committee for the major holidays of Islam (PHBI) Barito Utara, Yaser Arapat as quote in AntaraKalteng, Thursday, (24/12/2015) said that the enthusiasm of residents increased compared last year. “Baayun or batuyang Participants this year increased compared to the previous only 25 children,” he said.
In the baayun event, regent of Barito Utara, Nadalsyah along with his wife also did the Tampung Tawar traditions to children who have Batuyang. Tampung Tawar is believed by citizens to be the children to avoid the illness caused the mystical, as well as disturbances to child caused the devil.
“We expect of the tradition of baayun , hope that the toddler as adults later follow the morals of Prophet Muhammad and got the blessing of God Almighty,” said Nadalsyah
