CIDISS, Central Kalimantan – Hunting and Killing Orangutan is happen again. Orangutan is animal that protected by the law. The law is UU No.5/1999. The law states clear and explicit protect all Orangutan species and gives threat of punishment of 5 year prison and pay a fine IDR 100 million.
But, 10 palm oil workers of PT Susantri Permai in Kapuas, Central Kalimantan hunted and killed an adult Orangutan. Not only that, they also ate it. It happened on 28 January 2017 ago.
BOS Foundation (Borneo Orangutan Survival) through their social media strongly condemns and deplores the recent slaughter. They assumed that it is horrendous and barbaric act of killing and eating orangutan. “As the representation of how unappreciative we generally are towards nature and biodiversity,” twit admin BOS Foundation.
BOS Foundation greatly appreciates the prompt response from the minister of environment and forestry and the Kapuas police officers in responding to the report and apprehending 10 suspects.
BOS Foundation hopes working together to thoroughly follow and keep an eye on the legal process of theses suspects, “Ensuring fair and strict punishment for the violator,”.
CEO BOS Foundation, Dr Ir Jamartin Sihite states the corporation which the 10 suspects worked, is corporation which bound in Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). And it added the list of conflict between human and Orangutan in palm oil plantation area. Then saving orangutan effort by BOS and others organization is useless if there is no working together from entire parties toward the law.
