Again, Ships to Be Under Arrest for Fishing Illegally by District Attorney in Ambon

Ambon District Attorney officially arrested four ship captains as suspected criminal cases of fishery. They are the captain of KM Sino 26, Faplan Latukau and Chen Xiangqi; and the captain of KM sino 15, Haman Masfuin Adam and Zaijang Dezheng.

The for suspects are locked up in Prisioner of Ambon Class IIA after all the evidences’ suspects are completed by investigators from Ambon First-Class Naval Base (Lantamal IX/Ambon).

After examination and signing the minutes of detention in Kejari Ambon for four hours, four suspects were immediately escorted to the crease approximately at 16:25 PM by using prisoners’ car plate number DE 7060 AM.

In addition to the four suspects were locked, when it was also conducted phase II against the Master of MV Hai Fa, Zhu Nian Le. However, Zhu Nian Le was not arrested because he only committed an administrative violation.

“After the joint coordination between the prosecutor and Kejari Attorney Maluku Ambon, eventually conducted phase II for the three files and five suspects, four suspects helmsman we hold in the crease while the other suspects were not arrested because only administrative violation,” the district attorney, H Robert Ilat said.

“In the other hand, there are still two more ship captains’ files that need to be checked and rearranged,” he said further.

Those two ships are KM Jaya Karya with Junaedy as the captain and KM Century 7/PNG-064 with Thongma Lapho as the captain. These two ships weigh more than 200 GT with more than 15 crews inside. They were Thai fishing ships that has now been flagged Indonesian. Both of them has been caught doing fishery in Indonesian seas in Maluku Province without official documents and permits issued by the Indonesia’s Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
