The Surabaya Archipelago Student Dormitory (AMN) was inaugurated directly by President Jokowi on Tuesday (29/11/2022). Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto and Head of BIN Budi Gunawan (BG).
The inauguration of the Archipelago Student Dormitory (AMN) in Surabaya which was also attended by the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, to the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Dardak was also a declaration to build AMN in Makassar and Manado.
“Today afternoon I inaugurated the Nusantara Student Dormitory (AMN) in Surabaya, East Java Province, as well as the declaration of the construction of the Nusantara Student Dormitory in Makassar and Manado,” said Jokowi, Tuesday (29/11/2022)
The government plans to build similar dormitories in various cities to be able to foster national values for the younger generation, especially students.
The inauguration of AMN Surabaya marked the emergence of a new era of diversity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
Meanwhile, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) General Police (P.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc. said the Nusantara Student Dormitory (AMN) was a house of diversity with a strong sense of nationality within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and loyal to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.
“According to the direction of the President, the goal of AMN’s development is to become a model home for diversity, a common home for the nation’s young generation of students. By carrying out the values of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” said BG.
According to the Head of BIN, the development of AMN is a “project” with the nation involving various Ministries, Institutions and the Provincial Government (Pemprov). Meanwhile, the management and development of AMN is carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture by involving BIN, TNI, Polri, Kemenpora and Pemrov .
“AMN is a collaborative effort of and the responsibility of several institutional ministries, starting from BIN, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Ministry of Research and Technology , Ministry of Religion, and Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries , Regional Government, and universities,” said BG.
Directly, President Jokowi himself has also assigned the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to become the catalyst for the development of the AMN including its guidance.
The head of state hopes that the development of AMN can strengthen relations between the nation’s children and eliminate the potential threats of terrorism, radicalism, intolerance and separatism (TRIS) which often occur in various regions.
