The Sentani Traditional Council continues to urge all people in Papua to always be able to play an active role in increasing their contribution to maintaining peace in Indonesia. The reason is, it cannot be denied that Bumi Cenderawasih itself is an integral part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Regarding this matter, the Chairman of the Sentani Tribal Traditional Council in Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, Orgenes Kaway said that the tolerance between religious communities that has been established in Indonesia, including in the Land of Papua itself, must continue to be maintained together.
During this time, religious adherents continue to live in harmony and can also help each other in the Land of Papua. Therefore, it is hoped that the entire community will not be easily provoked and will also carry out various kinds of actions that will further damage the harmony and peace that has existed so far.
As part of the Indonesian nation, the entire young generation in Papua should also be able to work together to continue to maintain the integrity of the nation, lest they provide an opportunity for provocative issues to continue to spread because this is very capable of destroying the unity of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Presidential Staff, Moeldoko, expressed very high appreciation for the optimal performance of the security forces of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), who were able to anticipate any turmoil and incidents that occurred, such as various kinds of riots in Bumi Cenderawasih which were caused by provocation from a handful of people. small group is irresponsible. He then also invited all people in Papua to continue to maintain the situation so that it remains conducive.
Likewise, the Head of the Papua Regional Police (Kapolda), Inspector General of Police (Irjen Pol) Mathius D Fakhiri hopes that in the future there will be no acts of violence and also asks all elements of society in Bumi Cenderawasih to continue to uphold their culture without disturbing it at all. or detrimental to security and continuing to maintain the comfort of other Indonesian citizens.
Not only to the indigenous Papuan people, but the appeal from the security forces was also conveyed to anyone, including migrant communities who happen to be in the Bumi Cenderawasih area, they should also play an active role in continuing to maintain peace and not take steps that are increasingly destroying the atmosphere of harmony in the Land of Papua.
The security forces have a very strong commitment to carrying out security and guarding to ensure that all people in the Land of Papua live safely, peacefully and peacefully, are able to be free from all security disturbances that occur and can also be free from all acts of anarchism which are actually absolutely not needs to happen.
Of course, all these recommendations were not made without reason. The reason is, if the security and public order (kamtibmas) conditions in Papua continue to experience disturbances, it will also have a negative impact on this nation because Bumi Cenderawasih is an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam RI), Mahfud MD emphasized that Papua will forever be an inseparable part of the Republic of Indonesia. The government also emphasized that Papua is legally part of this country.
No half-hearted, even when viewed from all aspects, it shows that Earth of Cenderawasih is indeed a legitimate part of the Republic of Indonesia. Whether viewed from the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, including, for example, viewed according to international law and according to current facts.
When looking at the historical aspect, the Papua region was one of the big ambitions of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia, namely the first President, Ir. Soekarno (Bung Karno). He continues to fight with all his might to make Bumi Cenderawasih a part of Indonesia.
The great efforts made by President Soekarno at that time to continue fighting for Papua were indeed a very important part of the history of the struggle for independence in the country, which continued after the proclamation of Indonesian independence was carried out.
In fact, since the beginning of the formation of the Indonesian state, Bung Karno has stated his very strong determination to recognize and strive to unite all regions of the archipelago under one flag, including Papua.
This great struggle finally reached its peak, namely at the Determination of Popular Opinion (Pepera) which was held in 1969. In the end, the results of the Pepera showed that the majority of the entire population in Papua itself preferred to join Indonesia.
Therefore, to all people in Papua, as advised by the Sentani Traditional Council, they should all be able to play an active role in maintaining national peace. These efforts can start from maintaining orderly security and social order in their respective regions, because Bumi Cenderawasih is an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia.
