Wisely Addressing Audrey Yu Jia’s Viral News

By: Astrid Widia) *

The universe of social media lately has led to a story about a young boy named Audrey Yu Jian Hui. The young man born in Surabaya is claimed to have extraordinary intelligence.

According to news circulating, he was able to complete elementary school education for 5 years, junior high school for 1 year and high school for 11 months. Therefore, at the age of 13, he was able to apply for university.

But unfortunately, he could not enter the university in Indonesia because no one would accept it. So he decided to study in America.

Whether by accident or not, when the season for the search for ministerial candidates in the military was widely reported, Audrey’s story was also linked as a ministerial candidate.

In a story circulating widely on all social media platforms, Audrey is claimed to be working at NASA with a salary of around 200 million a month. Then some time ago when Jokowi went to Japan, the G-20 Summit, the President asked whether he would be willing to return? Then Audrey stated that he was ready to return to Indonesia regardless of the salary offered.

“After meeting with Jokowi at the G-20 summit in Japan yesterday, he was offered to enter BPPT and enthusiastically accepted without thinking about how much he paid. He just said Indonesia Love You. I have come to serve you … “

That is the last paragraph before closing with the sentence: I hope he can enter the ranks of ministers.

Audrey’s story is quite magical and amazes many. Not only circulating on social media, but also trusted by mainstream media. The media is actually copying out of a freelance article from whom. Because the facebook account that was covered also only said that it was copying from the side.

So, who started it? Certainly not too important. What’s interesting is what is the purpose of spreading this news? Is it true that Audrey is staying up – Gadang getting an offer to become a minister?

Even so, Audrey’s story is true. He started college when he was 13 years old in America majoring in Physics. He is currently 31 years old. Two years ago in 2017, he was chosen as one of the 722 iconic Indonesian achievements.

This award was obtained from the UKP-P (Work Unit of the President of the Pancasila Ideology). And one of the books he had written was indeed a matter of Pancasila, entitled: Finding the Fifth Precept.

However, the news that he had worked at NASA, then had met Jokowi in Japan and stated that he was ready to serve (being a minister), that was an untrue story. Jokowi did not meet Audrey in Japan. Nor did NASA ever recruit Audrey. This certainly can be known in this open era because now is the digital era.

People of Audrey’s caliber, if it’s really as strong as that, then surely the meeting with Jokowi will be a conversation. At least there is a photo. It would be a doubt if you met a potential young man but no picture. While about NASA, it was confirmed by his parents that this was not true.

So what is the purpose of this obscure bombastic story spread before the ministerial election? Where by chance Jokowi was looking for a military minister.

Audrey’s selection as an object to be presented to Jokowi also looks very mature and planned. If we write down Audrey’s keyword in Google, then everything will contain the bombastic story and claimed to be Jokowi’s minister. So that people are forced to believe that all the stories are true, because the media has broadcast the news.

If it is not accurate, it is possible for the people around Jokowi to believe Audrey. Due to time constraints, they will only see what has been offered by the media on the first page of search engines like Google.

The spread of news about Audrey is not something organic. Of course there are those who deliberately spread via WhatsApp and are now viral everywhere, considered a fact by the media, with the aim of trapping and embarrassing President Jokowi.
As a matter of fact, Audrey is a victim, of course she certainly doesn’t like it if she is neutralized with such hoaxes.
