Jakarta – The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) ensures that energy distribution is maintained during the 2024 Christmas celebrations and the 2025 New Year holidays. Deputy Minister of ESDM, Yuliot Tanjung said that monitoring results showed that the supply of fuel oil (BBM), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and electricity were in a safe and smooth condition.
“The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has conducted field checks on the readiness of energy infrastructure, including anticipation of geological disasters. Alhamdulillah, the availability of fuel and LPG for Christmas and New Year is safe,” said the Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Yuliot explained that his party also monitors a number of energy infrastructure in Medan, such as the LPG Bulk Filling and Transportation Station (SPPBE), Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU), and PLN units in North Sumatra. The government has asked PT Pertamina (Persero) to anticipate the increase in the need for BBM and LPG which is estimated to increase by 5-15 percent during the holidays.
Meanwhile, to support smooth distribution, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso stated that Pertamina has formed a Christmas and New Year Task Force (Satgas) which will be on duty from December 16, 2024 to January 9, 2025.
“This task force is on standby 24 hours through the Pertamina Digital Hub, working with various related agencies to ensure the availability of national energy,” he said.
In the electricity sector, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that PT PLN (Persero) has also prepared 81 thousand officers and 4,900 posts to ensure the reliability of the electricity system throughout Indonesia.
“Alhamdulillah, the electricity system throughout Indonesia is still reliable and primary energy stocks such as coal, gas, and fuel are in a safe condition.”
Yuliot added that the availability of LPG in remote areas is also a priority. “We have prepared LPG agents in the regions, including in Toba and Samosir, to ensure that the community’s needs are met,” he said. In addition, standby agents and regular LPG bases remain operational during the holidays.
With these various anticipatory measures, the government is optimistic that the public can celebrate Christmas and New Year comfortably without disruption to energy supply. The strong commitment of the government and energy companies ensures the stability of the national energy supply during the peak period of the year-end holidays. [*]
