Export of Craft Products to American Market Confirms Export Potential of Indonesian MSME Sector

Bantul – The Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Santoso, officially released the export of UMKM craft products worth USD 127,070 or around IDR 2 billion which will be sent to the global market, including America, Europe, and the Middle East. This reflects that the Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) sector has again shown great potential in the international trade arena.

The products released in this export include a variety of typical Indonesian handicrafts, including baskets made from water hyacinth and marble products such as tableware, mirrors, and various home decorations. This export was carried out by PT Out of Asia, a company that focuses on developing high-quality Indonesian MSME craft products that are ready to penetrate the international market.

Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that the export release is real evidence that Indonesian craft products have strong competitiveness in the global market. “The exported products reflect the great potential of Indonesian products in penetrating the world market,” said Budi. According to him, the international market is now increasingly open to Indonesia’s superior products, especially handicrafts that have their own artistic and unique value.

In addition to introducing traditional crafts, this export is also a strategic step in supporting the growth of the MSME sector in Indonesia. The government, through the Ministry of Trade, has prepared various programs to support MSME players to make it easier to enter the international market. One of the main programs is MSME BISA Ekspor which aims to provide training and facilities to MSME players so that they can adapt to the needs and standards of the global market.

Budi Santoso also emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, society, and business actors in strengthening Indonesia’s export performance. “We continue to be committed to increasing exports of Indonesian products so that more MSME products can compete in the world market,” he added.

In addition, the Ministry of Trade has also designed three main programs to strengthen Indonesia’s trade position, namely Domestic Market Security, Export Market Expansion, and Increasing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Dare to Innovate, Ready to Adapt Exports (UMKM BISA Ekspor). These programs are expected to accelerate access for Indonesian products to the global market and increase the competitiveness of Indonesian MSME products in the international market.[*]
