Investment in the marine sector is also boosted by the government by issuing a legal umbrella in the form of Presidential Decree Numbers 3, 4, and 5 of 2022, so that there is legality. It is hoped that with this legal umbrella, it will be easier to manage and attract the interest of investors.
The government is very aggressive in attracting foreign investors, because only by investing can we solve the problems in this country. If there is cooperation with them, new projects will be started, so there is no need to add to the state debt. Investment is not only on land but also in the sea.
The areas that will be utilized for marine space are the Java Sea, Sulawesi Sea, and Tomini Bay in Sulawesi. The three were chosen because they have abundant marine products. So that if there are investors, mutually beneficial cooperation can be held.
To strengthen investment in the oceans, the government issued official regulations for the legal umbrella, namely Presidential Regulation No. 3 of 2022 concerning regional zoning plans in the Java Sea, Presidential Decree No. 4 concerning inter-regional zoning plans in the Sulawesi Sea, and Presidential Regulation No. 5 concerning zoning plans. between regions in Tomini Bay.
The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono stated that the zoning plan had an important function in terms of providing prerequisites for doing business in high-risk marine spaces. The granting of investment permits in the sea is to be further boosted in the fisheries and marine sector, so that a presidential regulation is needed as an official legal umbrella.
The three prepres are prerequisites for business licensing in accordance with applicable regulations in Indonesia. So that later if there are investors who are really serious when they are going to invest, there is already a legal umbrella. They will not hesitate again when they enter this country.
Investment in the marine sector is being boosted by the government because the sea in Indonesia has a lot of potential. We have various types of fish that can be sold, either whole or canned. It’s no secret that fish from Indonesia are exported to foreign countries and have many fans.
If there are investors in the marine and fisheries sector, the sector will be further boosted, because a large factory for fish processing will be built. Moreover, there are many types of fish in Indonesia that can be reprocessed, either in canned form or fish nuggets. With this investment project, we can enlarge the marine potential in Indonesia.
Investments in the marine and fisheries sector are guaranteed to be mutually beneficial because both Indonesia and other countries have the same maximum profit. Moreover, Indonesia has great potential to be used as a place of investment, because it has abundant natural resources (including in the ocean), many human resources, and the country’s situation is relatively safe.
People should not misunderstand when they hear the word ‘investment’ because this is not colonialism in the millennial era. Precisely with investment, the community will benefit. Investors come to cooperate and offer equal returns. Meanwhile they need workers so that it will reduce the unemployment rate in Indonesia.
By investing in the marine and fisheries sector, it is hoped that we can rise after being hit by the pandemic. Indonesia will have profit from this investment so it will slowly improve its own financial condition.
Investment in the marine sector is wide open for investors because we have great potential there. Indonesia is a maritime country and the processing of marine products can be maximized, and investors come to help, so that a symbiotic mutualism will be created.
