Head of BIN Reminds Regional Heads to Prepare for Uncertainties in 2023

Bogor-Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), General Pol ( Purn ) Budi Gunawan said world intelligence described 2023 as a dark and uncertain year.

This was stated at the 2023 National Coordination Meeting ( Rakornas ) of Regional Heads and Regional Leadership Coordination Forum ( Forkopimda ) at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) on Tuesday (17/1/2023).

He described that 2023 is a year haunted by the threat of recession and inflation. The impact will affect the area to remote villages. “Intelligence term called, Winter is Coming ,” said BIN head Budi Gunawan.

Pol General (P) Budi Gunawan explained, the Russo-Ukrainian War was one of the factors causing the threat of the dark 2023. Especially the China-Taiwan conflict, has also disrupted world energy, food and logistics supplies.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s economic growth projection for 2023 has the potential to drop to 1.2 percent due to regional and inter-group inequality.

Therefore, KaBIN Budi Gunawan invites regional heads and Forkopimda to make thorough preparations to deal with recession and inflation.

“Therefore, let’s make the difficult year 2023 a year of blessings by making better, more mature preparations that care more about the community,” he explained.

Indonesia is currently still a net importer of food commodities, especially wheat, soybeans, rice, meat and garlic. For this reason, General Pol ( Retired ) Budi Gunawan reminded all regional heads to be prepared for the threat of a food crisis in 2023.

“Therefore the role of the local government is really needed to overcome the potential for a food crisis,” said KaBIN .

Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati also left a message to regional heads in controlling inflation in an effort to avoid the threat of a recession in 2023.

Even though Indonesia’s economy is in good condition, he emphasized that all parties need to be careful and remain vigilant in facing 2023 so that inflation does not soar.

“In 2023 all regional governments and ministries/agencies will remain vigilant, because the 2023 situation will be marked by geopolitical problems that are difficult to predict,” said the Minister of Finance
