Jakarta – President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran are very active in taking firm action against corruption cases. President Prabowo continues to demonstrate this commitment to the Indonesian people without discrimination. The eradication of corruption is truly carried out comprehensively at the central and regional levels.
Within a few weeks, law enforcement officers have succeeded in uncovering various major cases involving corruption in various sectors, with state losses reaching trillions of rupiah.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that corruption seems to have been accepted as an everyday condition. Even those who want to eradicate it are laughed at because the condition is too severe. For this reason, President Prabowo gave a stern warning to all officials to stop practicing greed and robbing people’s money.
The recent Constitutional Court (MK) Decision emphasized the authority of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in investigating corruption in military institutions. The Head of the KPK for the 2015-2019 period, Saut Situmorang, said this decision was a positive step to strengthen the eradication of corruption.
According to him, this decision is final and binding so there is no room for further debate. However, coordination efforts between institutions are needed to ensure that the implementation of the policy runs smoothly.
“Coordination is very important in this decision so that there is no miscommunication in the implementation of this decision,” he said.
Saut Situmorang also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in investigating corruption cases that have been difficult to touch. The Constitutional Court’s decision is expected to reduce the KPK’s doubts in acting in handling cases involving military personnel.
“Corruption eradication must be transparent and accountable so that it does not raise doubts for the KPK,” he said.
In addition, he reminded all parties, including the BPK, to carry out their duties professionally. Accurate financial investigations and audits are needed so that state losses can be minimized significantly.
“The BPK must ensure that the calculation of state losses is carried out correctly. With the aim of saving state money,” he said.
At the regional level, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators have named Acting Mayor of Pekanbaru Risnandar Mahiwa (RM) as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption in the management of the Pekanbaru City Government budget, Riau.
“The KPK has conducted a series of investigations and has found sufficient preliminary evidence to raise this case to the investigation stage, by naming three people as suspects, namely RM, IPN, and NK,” said Deputy Chairman of the KPK Nurul Ghufron.
Ghufron said that KPK investigators will continue to investigate this case to other parties suspected of being involved and other money flows.
Through the Constitutional Court’s Decision on the KPK’s authority to investigate corruption in military institutions, it is hoped that it will encourage an increase in Indonesia’s Corruption Perception Index, which is currently at 34. With effective corruption eradication, Indonesia can attract more investment and improve people’s welfare. Efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia must be carried out synergistically by all elements of society in order to create conducive and stable national security.
